Summary
Staying at Daisy's from Sunday Times best-selling author Jill Mansell is essential reading if you love the novels of Cathy Kelly and Milly Johnson.
Daisy MacLean runs the country house hotel owned by her flamboyant father, Hector. When she hears who's about to get married there, she isn't worried at all - her friend, Tara, absolutely promises there won't be any trouble between her and ex-boyfriend Dominic, whom she hasn't seen for years. But Dominic has other ideas....
Meanwhile, Hector's getting up to all sorts with...well, that's the village's best kept secret. And then Barney turns up, with a little something belonging to the husband Daisy's been doing her best to forget. That's the thing about hotels - you never know who you're going to meet. Or whether they're going to stay....

Brilliant
I loved it! The narrator was excellent, in fact she was brilliant, so many different accents. The story held my interest all the way through with its twists
and turns . I will certainly be listening to another book by Jill Mansell and books narratored by Penelope Freeman.

talented narrator
I loved this book, some of the best narration I've heard and a story that's very easy to relax and sink into every time you pick up audible. A soothing read; very predictable but wonderfully enjoyable.

Nothing great!
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Probably not! The book is not one of Jill Mansell's best! Its story was quite boring in parts and i struggled to connect with, or even like, most of the characters within it.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
The ending was alright - but a little expected.
What didn’t you like about Penelope Freeman’s performance?
The performance of the book did get quite irritating after a while. The voices for each character were far too dramatic and sounded too similar to one another that i lost track half way through!
Any additional comments?
Overall, the audio was okay for a listen - but don't expect anything amazing.

Not my favorite
I’ve been on a Jill Mansell binge-audible-read recently this is about number 6..love her books for relaxing and feel good factor.
My favourite so far was Fast Friends, really loved the characters and storylines in that one.
Staying at Daisy’s was my least favourite, I found the main female character really not very likeable and the main love interest equally not a great character.
I enjoyed the other storylines much more in this book. I wasn’t too keen on the narrator, I think she’d be really good at mystery and crime thrillers but I found the tone of voice to not suit the love story of a young lady and young man particularly well.l and she sounded rather bored throughout.
Anyway going to pick my next Jill book now regardless.

A right dogs dinner
How is it that human relationships can get so messy because of lack of communication? Almost in the league of a Brian Rix farse this story dragged slightly but earned its 4* award because of the clever dialogue, good reading and easy entertainment. Up with the high standard of most of her books this is stress free listening and worth the time taken to hear the story out.
