Ava Birch killed herself and woke up a ghoul with an attitude and a hunger for the dead. With no manual and very little help coming from the supernatural community, Ava offers her services to the regional psychic. Her newest job? Apparently zombies have been spotted in a small town nearby. Ava wades in thinking that this job will be a piece of cake...or at least as tasty. Navigating meddling vampires, bothersome witches, and a peculiar case of memory loss...and now her best friend and human companion has up and walked out. Things go from bad to worse when Ava discovers that there is a force behind these recent zombie sightings that may date back to the time of the Black Plague. Sometimes a ghoul would just rather stay in bed...or at least her sound proof basement where nobody can hear you scream.

An entertaining ghoulish tale

Where does That Ghoul Ava and The Queen of the Zombies rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is the second book in this series I've listened two and can't wait to start the third. The second one in the series has been my favourite.

What other book might you compare That Ghoul Ava and The Queen of the Zombies to, and why?

Nothing compares to the Ghoul Ava, she is refreshing tale of the supernatural

Which scene did you most enjoy?

When she tried to get Jeremy into bed. Witty without going into the gory details

Any additional comments?

The first book in the series I didn't really like the narrator, this is a different narrator and she bring Ava more to life for me.

Ghoul Rules!!

Would you listen to That Ghoul Ava and The Queen of the Zombies again? Why?

Yes, because it's entertaining and the first time listening I wanted to get to the end of the story to find out what happen. Going back and listening again would definitely catch what I missed before.

What was one of the most memorable moments of That Ghoul Ava and The Queen of the Zombies?

Ava describing how the flake of the dead skin from the Queen of Zombies taste...

Which character – as performed by Pamela Lorence – was your favorite?

Lisa, for some reason with all the monster in the book being human was interesting to me.

Any additional comments?

I am still very impress with Brown's writing especially making Ava the Ghoul so fun to listen too. I am a huge zombie fan but Ava the Ghoul have gotten my attention. Can't wait to see what she does in the next book.

Nice addition to the series.

That Ghoul Ava is a fun addition to the urban fantasy landscape. She kind of ditzy, which has its own appeal in a genre of more serious stuff like Dresden and the Iron Druid. She is a fun character, with more depth than you'd expect, especially as she discovers what a ghoul is capable of. The setting is well drawn, with Portland being kind of an exotic setting from the usual NY/Chicago/LA norm in urban fantasy. If your more into the lighter side of fantasy, this is the book for you. The change in narrators from book 1 was a little jarring, but she got into the swing of the characters about a quarter of the way in and it was an enjoyable listen.

I was given a.copy of this book at no charge by the author in exchange for an honest review through Audiobook Boom.
