Fleur is beautiful, unscrupulous, and has a large wardrobe of black designer suits. With the help of The Times announcements page, she gate-crashes the funerals and memorial services of the wealthy, preying on rich, vulnerable men. A little disappointed

I have to say that I gave up on this book a quarter of the way through. I wasn't a fan of the performance in general which I found to be a little stiff with no personality and there was an awful drawl to it which I found hard to listen to. I am a huge fan of Sophie Kinsella's work, but I'm not so keen so far on my first encounter with Madeleine Wickham. Maybe I will try it again at some point if I am stuck without something else to go to first.

OK story totally destroyed by bizarre, whackey narration.

The story wasn’t too bad & didn’t proceed in a predictable, told you so way. The narration was quite like nothing I’ve ever heard. Very, very odd. And inflections in all the wrong places. It was so bad I nearly stopped listening. I got used to it as the story unfolded & I wanted to read on to the end.
