Summary

The troubled teenager continues to struggle valiantly against the slings and arrows of growing up and his own family's attempts to scar him for life. In between the ups and downs of his relationship with the divine Pandora and worrying that his genius is going unrecognized, Adrian Mole chronicles the pains and pleasures of a misspent adolescence.

Critic reviews

"A satire of our times. Very funny indeed." ( Sunday Times)
"We laugh both at Mole and with him. A wonderful comic read, that, like all the best comedy, says something rather meaningful." ( Heat)

Great listen

What did you like most about The Growing Pains of Adrian Mole?

I most liked the similarities between going through acne and embarrassment.

Would you be willing to try another book from Sue Townsend? Why or why not?

Yes, it is really entertaining listen.

What does Nicholas Barnes bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

His voice is great and definitely shows oh you would expect him to sound if you were reading it.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No I listened to it in stages because it is a lot to take in all at once.

Very Funny

Very funny story with an excellent narration by Nicholas Barnes, using just the right tone of voice to portray the attitudes of the young, clueless Adrian Mole.

The Growing Pains Of Adrian Mole

Taking over straight from 'The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole', book number two of the highly successful series doesn't disappoint in audiobook form. In fact, it's brilliant and I have already purchased #3.

Nicholas Barnes is a sublime narrator and really brings Mole to life.
