Summary

When Joe and Christy Davenport step behind the Oxford-blue-painted door of their 'forever' home, they believe their dreams have come true. Yet the boxes aren't even unpacked before a series of events leads Christy to become obsessed with the previous occupant, the glamorous, enigmatic Amber Fraser, whose departure from Lime Park Road is shrouded in mystery.

What happened to her? And why are Joe and Christy's attempts at friendship with neighbours met with an unnerving silence?

Loved this brilliant book

I really enjoyed everything about this book what a great author. The characters were so well defined and the narration excellent. There were no real twists or dark threads just a story about relationships and obsession. I would recommend this as a great holiday listen. I am enjoying all of this authors books.

Kept me guessing.

Great story, kept me guessing right to the end. Feel like I have some unanswered questions though.

Really?

What a ridiculous and dreadful story. Couldn't stand Christie - it really went rapidly downhill with her whining conversation with the Police, I cringed. A farfetched and stupid plot. I don't recommend this title at all. Struggled to the end to see how it finished and wish I hadn't bothered. I like Candlish as a writer, she employs clever language and imagery but it felt wasted on such an awful storyline. And it had such potential!

Absolute tripe

I kept listening as I kept hoping for something to happen. It didn’t. That’s the problem with audio books, it’s not as easy to skip through them. Don’t waste your time.

Yawn!

Boring and predictable, I persevered in the hope something interesting would happen but unfortunately it didn't! What a waste of a bogof opportunity, I don't think I'd get a credit back for returning half the deal, very disappointed. On the plus side the narrator did well hence the 2 stars not 1.

struggle

I found it all a bit twee and longwinded. All about neighbourhood gossip, a bit desperate housewifes.
