Summary

Leo Ware may be young, but he knows what he wants. And what he wants is Will Highland. Snarky, sophisticated, fiercely opinionated Will Highland, who burst into Leo's unremarkable life like a supernova...and then was gone just as quickly.
For the past miserable year, Leo hasn't been able to stop thinking about the powerful connection he and Will shared. So, when Leo moves to New York for college, he sweeps back into Will's life, hopeful that they can pick up where they left off. What begins as a unique friendship soon burns with chemistry they can't deny...though Will certainly tries.
But Leo longs for more than friendship and hot sex. A romantic to his core, Leo wants passion, love, commitment - everything Will isn't interested in giving. Will thinks romance is a cheesy fairy tale and love is overrated. He likes his space and he's happy with things just the way they are, thank you very much. Or is he? Because as he and Leo get more and more tangled up in each other's lives, Will begins to act like maybe love is something he could feel after all.

Best of an amazing series!

This is another situation where I'm basically a mess, and want to grab people and make them read this book. Or, even better, listen to Spencer Goss's narration. This book tore me up when I read it, and listening to it made it even more emotional and amazing.
Will breaks my heart, Leo makes me believe in the ability to allow your heart, and maybe more importantly, ypur mind to accept all the options and possibilities love provides. If I thought Will needed redemption I'd say this proves that love can redeem someone. But, I don't think Will needs to be redeemed. He needs the kind of largely unconditional love that Leo gives him, but he really doesn't change. He just expands his views, and opens his heart, and gives in to loving Leo. He is still the acerbic, tetchy person he was which makes his crazy, romantic, OTT declaration in public at the end all the more meaningful. I'm not sure how this book, which is arguably Leo's, as it is told from his POV, became so much Will's book for me, but it did. I love how much Leo grows, he goes from a sweet, innocent kid with stars in his eyes about not only Will, but also NYC, to someone that is worthy of and capable of accepting who Will (and the city) is.
As to the audio, Spencer Goss is such an amazing narrator. He is one of a very short list of narrators that I will buy anything (even books I don't have any particular interest in) that he narrates because I know the experience is going to be outstanding. Unfortunately, he doesn't have a lot out there yet, but I'm willing to wait.

Oh. My. God.

I have listened to audiobooks forever...as sort of a way to zone out on an airplane flight to give my eyes a rest or when I'm just....too occupied to hold a book.

But, I am also a reader.

This genre has been a guilty pleasure for me...as I happen to be a guy who came out after years of denial.

But, this author's work...from book one...really resonated with me. He is both realistic and idealistic at the same time. Roan is obviously a guy who knows what it's like to go from feeling "on the outside" and then deciding to go in.

I listened to book one about 6 months after I read it...and it was god. But..when I listened to "Out of Nowhere" (book 2) I decided I didn't want to even read the third book, which I heard was coming, because this author's work is even better as dialogue than as text.

Spencer Goss is an amazing narrator. If you can't get caught up in his flow of emotion and raw truth...I can't help you

For any who have read book two..."OUT of Nowhere"...was a tour-de-force...and there were far more reasons for Colin in book 2 to be all angsty and broken...but here's the thing...

In this audiobook, you sense Leo's vulnerability (of leaving home for the first time, and to NYC no less. And the emotion is JUST as high!

This is the first book I actually denied myself reading because I wanted to hear this dude read it. And Oh. My. God. It's was worth it!
