Summary

When a troop of alien warriors demands the return of an imprisoned comrade - a prisoner no one on Deep Space Nine knows anything about - Commander Benjamin Sisko has a deadly fight on his hands. Under sudden attack from the heavily armed warriors, Sisko and his crew struggle desperately to repel the invaders and save the lives of everyone on board. Meanwhile, a strange device from the Gamma Quadrant has shifted Ferengi barkeeper Quark and Security Chief Odo three days into the future to a silent Deep Space Nine littered with the bodies of their fallen crewmates. To save the station they must discover what caused the invasion to take place - and find a pathway back through time itself.

Fallen Heroes Review

This audiobook was well constructed and the abridged version contained the story well. It was a bit worrying

when the audiobook was only 2hr 9 min in length compared to the novel but it held through to be an entertaining piece of fiction.

Frustrating

Imagine watching an episode of DS9 where every character is voiced by Odo. Now imagine watching that episode with your eyes closed. Now imagine spending an Audible credit for the pleasure.

Worth a purchase

While admittedly this does fall into the trapping of the ending being predictable, it is still nevertheless compelling and the late Rene Auberjonois does bring a good narration of the story to the table along with a good impression of Quark.

It's pretty dark and grim in areas and the race introduced from the Gamma Quadrant are certainly a credible if a little cliché threat. Cliché isn't necessarily bad however as the threat to Deep Space Nine is still very effective.

A story worth sinking your teeth into if you are fans of Deep Space Nine.
