It was ok. Maybe it was just me but I couldn’t really get emotionally invested in the characters. It might be fine for others though

Excellent. Well narrated.

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book and would recommend it. I prefer the Caina books, but this is a good story and, after a slow ish start it picked up

Not Great!

This is one of those books you either like or dislike. Unfortunately, I'm the latter.

I found this book to be uninviting, grey and not for me. The narrator's inflection was off, which did not help and I will not be following on with Book 2.

Need some patience

Took awhile to get going need a little bit of patience story is okay but what ruined it for me was the narrator it was okay but there was something about the pronunciation. It’s almost as if you would be the perfect person to listen to when you’re trying to go to sleep I was a bit worldbuilding going on in this novel not too sure if I’m gonna bother with the second I shall see

Worth A Listen

I’m still not 100% sure about Moeller’s books... I love that they have a large variety of characters and also that the key figures are a mixture of both male and female grown-ups who I can relate to, as opposed to the annoyingly precocious teenaged boy geniuses most popular writers tend to feature.

I also love that there are so many titles in Mozller’s series and that they are interconnected.

While, not bad, I’d really find the book much more enjoyable if the imagery were stronger.

I dislike how slowwwww both Frostborn and other novels of his that I’ve read start and that there tends to be a bit of Maryjane’ing with a lot of the characters.

Also it is difficult to keep track of the characters. I think this is because their names are often fairly similar and he doesn’t always spend a long time enough time introducing them.

The narration - while solid - doesn’t have a great range of different voices, making the listen less enjoyable for me.

A good reader can make a story come to life...

... A bad one can break it. This one did for me.

I have spent a lot of time in the fantasy genre. There are things that will always have common place. Which is fine, it gives the reader a stable base to build the story on.
What that does, however, is place an image in your head as to what certain elements should be like.

Small vicious monsters, for example, should not be speaking in full correct English. They should be crass, short tempered and not willing to waste time bargaining.
Massive battle hardened Orcs should also not speak in perfect Queens English, or speak in a high pitched voice when the reader has just told you, "the Orc growled"!

I think my issues with this story is more about the reader than the story. The story as a whole, is okay. The reader made it feel like a drag to listen to.
For older readers some research into the area they are reading would be useful, there is more than enough source material about. Or, communicating with the author (if possible) about how the story should be presented.

I'm not saying that I am a perfect reader, but as an example, mis-pronouncing Duke as duck should not be allowed.

Overall not a bad story. Definitely a poor story-teller for this one.

I obviously made a mistake with this

This is for young children I think. tried very hard to listen, but feels like bedtime stories for under tens. maybe it's just the appallingly bad slow performance. I'll try reading it but I'm not holding out much hope.
