Summary

A swift plot with some stunning sex scenes give this novel a special place in the panoply of gay fiction.

Ghostly Gay Trilogy is the story of the triumph of one man's spirit as he casts out his demons, real and imagined, and lays to rest the ghost of his lost love, learning to live again.

Life and fate have dealt Ashley Wynter a series of cruel blows. He is bereft of the job that fulfilled him and the lover who sustained him.

Summoned by a sinister anonymous message, he's lured into a twilight world of deceit, depravity, and degradation as he struggles to find out how his lover died - and why.

Ghostly error

I was not pleased with this book from the very outset. The editing was very poor and the narrator (something I know that we have to give a little time to get used to), wasn't animated at all and his errors (we all make them), were not edited out!). It made the storyline a bit tiresome and I did not finish the book. Have actually erased it from my iPod.

Scattered Story Line

I wonder if the narrator has a shadow of a lisp; he trips over his words; yawns during reading and stumbles over words. Also, one can hear background noises and the pages turning!!! This could be forgiven - but the story is so jumpy it seems as if chunks of narrative are missing. The storyline jumps all over the place and is terribly confusing. Don't bother with this audiobook.

written by a school boy

This is truly one of the worst books I've read, no plot development occurs without a signpost; poor characterisation and dull.

Disappointing

I really wanted to like this because there are so few books to choose from in the LGBT section that have a semi-decent running time, unfortunately I just couldn't. Even though the story has potential I was so distracted by the terrible narration that I couldn't even finish the miniscule 6 hours it promised. The narators voice is wavery nasal and unemotional and sometimes it sounds like he's trying to eat something while he's reading!! Please please dont make my mistake. Listen to the sample before you buy (it doesn't get better), and if you haven't got them yet head over to Mary Calmes page, or Madeleine Urban and Abigail Roux Cut and Run series for a little quality.

A struggle

I had relatively high expectations based on reviews I had read, but was disappointed. The writing style is cliched - you can predict many phrases and say them along with the narrator. The plot development was ponderously slow in places, but very sudden in others - almost as if part of the story has been accidentally omitted. There are enjoyable sections, but it was quite a struggle to wade through the rest of the story till you reached the next highlight.

Unfortunately what made this particular audio book even harder work was the lack-lustre narration. Granted, not all narrators appeal to every listener, but this reader sounds on occasions as if he is looking at the words for the first time: incorrect inflexion, using the wrong voice for the character supposed to be speaking, basic speech mistakes, background noises, and pauses in the middle of sentences (yawning?) are all present in this seemingly unedited recording. It sounded more like someone reading a book onto a cassette for a friend in hospital, and not something that you should expect to pay for.

This is the first book by this author that I have either read or heard, and will probably be the last to which I will listen with this narrator; I will try the next one on paper.
