"I am witnessing a phenomenon. It seems as though a growing group of women entrepreneurs all around the world has discovered the secret to success and happiness in both their lives and careers. It's almost as though there is a hidden, underground world of power-playing females who have all cracked a magical code: they think positively, they support one another, and they truly believe they can have it all - and you can, too. There is something dynamic that happens when women genuinely show up for each other. When we lose the facades, when we cut the bulls--t, and when we truly have each other's backs. When we stop pretending everything is perfect, and we show the messy, beautiful parts of ourselves and our work that all look awfully similar. When we talk about our fears, our missteps, and our breakdowns. And most importantly, when we share our celebrations, our breakthroughs, and dish on what works. There is no reason to hoard information, connections, or insight. Wisdom is meant to be shared, so let's start sharing what we've learned to make each other better. Let's start building each other up. Let's live up to our potential and start ruling the world."

Don't Even Bother
This book actually contains no content and is peppered with such superficial anecdotes that is almost embarrassing.
The basic message - be nice to other women, work hard and believe in yourself - could be summed up in five minutes and the book is a patronising ramble that includes shopping at Chanel and the author patting herself on the back for not getting mad when she was faced with an incompetent driver. Seriously??? Nothing learned here, don't bother. I'll be returning this one!

The reviews disagree with me, so I assume this book and I are just a poor match.
If I hear the word "journey" again today, I may forget all my inner peace and ask the universe to wack somebody on the head. The author's story of finding the perfect salon to get her mink lash extensions gave me pause. It was her rapturous recounting of the time she took a town car to buy a Chanel purse that finished me off. I'm a mother of grown children and now a new grandmother. This whole 'purse that cost twice as much as my first car' phenomenon is beyond ridiculous. But she's young..she'll learn.
So, if you are an ambitious 20/30 something and are new to positive thinking and sending out good energy to get good energy back; if you like the idea of mink lash extensions (seriously?) you may very well enjoy this book. If, on the other hand, you are a more mature person who has lived through the fads and fancies of superficiality, look elsewhere. It's hard to get a reinvigorating shot of positivity when you are hearing from the wife of an NBA star or a reality TV personality about how they run their businesses and get everything done. Hmm ..ready cash maybe?
In summary, road weary pragmatists beware! The info is standard positive cheerleader stuff. A great message, but the messenger may not resonate for everyone.

Very misleading title
Would you try another book from Cara Alwill Leyba and/or the narrators?
No. The Narrator was good but the book was not for me at all.
Has Girl Code turned you off from other books in this genre?
No. I will just do more research next time.
Which scene was your favorite?
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Major disappointment. Annoyance.
Any additional comments?
This book appears to be a business book at first look, but it is not at all. I tried to return it but it would not allow me. I kept listening hoping it would improve but it never did. This is book is not for a woman who (like me) is already confident, already strong, already outgrown high school behaviors towards other women, has kids, already believes in positivity brings in only good things in your life; if you fit any of those, do not buy this book. This book would be very helpful if you are unsure of yourself, doubtful, awash in negativity, cannot maintain good working relationships, have a woe is me attitude, can't be happy for others. I run a painting company. There was nothing about dealing with men in business in this book. Next time I will research more than the first couple reviews before buying a book.
