Summary

Once upon a time, there was a girl who stopped believing in fairytales after her innocence was stolen.

Morgan Myers is tired. So damn tired. Most people either push her around or brush her off, and she's not putting up with it anymore. Determined to reclaim the life that had been stolen from her, she puts her trust in the last person she ever expected to: the notorious Scar. Morgan sees a side of him that few people seem to know - the man, not the myth. Lorenzo. And what she sees, she likes, a lot more than she thought she would.

But fairytales aren't real, as life likes to remind her. Some dragons, you just can't slay, no matter how hard you fight them. And when hers comes back around, breathing fire, she's forced to face some unimaginable horrors. But lucky for Morgan, there's a white knight in combat boots out there that isn't afraid of monsters.

You see, it's impossible to be afraid of something you face every day in the mirror.

Contains mature themes.

CAN YOU BASK IN A BOOK?

Can you bask in a book?

Honestly I sat there, laid there and listened to this on audio and I just didn't want it to end.

Grievous is the second book Conclusion to Menace.

Lorenzo and Scarlet's relationship has certainly come a long way from the intense relationship they first had in book one. Lorenzo and Scarlet were like two flames that fed off each other.

In Grievous Lorenzo continue to have that crazy intense and passionate connection.

I enjoyed the transition of Lorenzo going from hard boss to hero.

I loved the journey the characters take in this book, the battles the characters faced and still face that leave them marred and not without mental and physical scars but the crescendo to the hea satiating.

I enjoyed everything about this story, the thrill, the anticipation, the characters, the villains, the ending.

Lorenzo is the kind of character with a hardness, a man of little emotion, a man who is feared and without meaning to be at times he is so damn funny and you could say he's a smooth criminal, I loved him.

Scarlett as Lorenzo calls her or Morgan is feisty, a woman with backbone, a woman who has been through so much in her lifetime and still she stands tall and continues in her quest to find her daughter while she herself is being hunted by a Russian mafia boss.

J.M Darhowers Writing is impeccable with a plot that is unpredictable and gritty at times. I love mafia romance and this is absolutely brilliant I loved every moment and can't wait to read more from this audio.

like I said; I listened to this on audio, these narrators are absolutely brilliant and really bring the characters to life, Lorenzo sounds smooth, hot, I loved his sarcasm and the way he plays any acts of niceties off. Lorenzo is a villain who in the end becomes a hero. I think I got more out of this book by listening to the audio version so I recommend it.

A Brilliant and recommended duet for any Mafia romance lovers.

Contains plenty of hot scenes, has an element of darkness and grit, is told in first person dual pov and leads to a hea.

Wow! What a finale!

This is the first time I have tried this author and it definitely won't be the last.

I wasn't sure what I would find and it started off being quite a bit too dark for me and I wasn't sure whether I could handle it.

What made me continue was Lorenzo's sense of humor (although he is known as this terrifying psycho) and the fact that he does have an albeit weird moral compass.

Of all the people in New York, Morgan decides to pick Lorenzo's pocket and he is just gobsmacked; and so commences their interesting relationship.

Morgan has had a terrifying existence with the Russian mafia and she is basically on the run from a man obsessed with her and Lorenzo turns out to be, in his own strange way, her knight in shining armour even though he runs the New York underworld .

The narration is superb and if you can get through the disturbing way that she is treated, how she manages to survive by hook line and sinker, this is an incredible duet and I highly recommend it.

It is definitely not for the faint hearted or for anyone with ANY triggers as there are many, but what an ending!

I only wish I knew what happened to Morgan's childhood and how she ended up where she did, i.e. what happened to her parents.

Fantastic

Love Lorenzo and Scarlett and I’m glad he gave in and admitted to himself he loved her and his interaction with Sacha was perfect. Kasha and Iggy made the characters come to life and I’ll be listening to the duet again.

The way that JM Darhower brings the listener/reader into the book was great , Lorenzo is speaking to whoever is listening/reading at the time and I’ve not seen this is any book or audiobook before. This is what makes this duet in my top 4 audiobooks ever and as I’ve listened to over 1100 that says a lot for this duet

Brilliant!

Having thoroughly enjoyed Menace, I delved straight into Grievous. Both books had me hooked from the start. I loved the humour, all the more so because of the fantastic narration. Laughing out loud at times, on the edge of my seat at others. I wanted to know the ending but I didn’t want it to end! Thank you so much for hours of pure entertainment.

A great second part!

So in book 1 (which you must read/listen to first) we meet Morgan and Lorenzo and get an intriguing introduction to their world. Morgan is strong, sassy, hopeful, optimistic despite having been used and abused and treated very badly. Lorenzo is a wolf in wolves’ clothing, a man who lives on the dark side of life, who has no intention of coming into the light. In the first book we solved the mystery of the little girl, who she is, where she is, and why she is. We just now need to bring everything and everyone back together.

Definitely need trigger warmings as part of this book are very dark and violent. However as with the first there is humour, even at the darkest and most violent of times thanks to Lorenzo’s twisted yet amusing internal and external dialogue. There is murder, and mayhem and betrayal, but there is also love and understanding and a very welcome HEA.

The writer has done a great job with this book as it has everything I would look for in a book. The narrators as with book one do a great job.

This is included in Plus, but would be worth a credit.
