highly recommended
There's a way to be both successful and stress-free. Richard Carlson shows the aspects of our lives which load stress and also ways to prevent them. Highly recommended.

Great day starter
I like listening to this book at the start and end of my day on my commute. It has great suggestions for happy living and I found myself being happier and more stress free after listening to it. Don't expect any mind blowing revelations, but it is a good reminder of what really matters.

Don't bother
I've read a few books on psychology, behaviour and relationships in the past and I have a degree in Psychology. I've heard good things about Don't Sweat the Small Stuff off tv but no recommendations from people who've bought it (now I know why!). It was in the Audible Sale and I thought I'd give it a go. I'm quite a stressed person and thought this might teach me some techniques to manage my stress. I was looking forward to it as other reviews made out it was life changing. It's narrated by the author and he does an ok job, very American upbeat style but then he is an American and it's a self help book so no surprises there. The book is only 4 hours so you're done with it pretty quickly that is either a positive or a negative depending on how you look at it ;) Some of the strategies were interesting but nothing ground breaking and you've probably already thought of most of them, in essence the techniques were just repeated ways of driving home the message of "relax and be grateful for what you've got". You'd probably get more use out of going to a yoga class or getting a massage so don't bother downloading it as it hardy has an impact at all and certainly isn't life changing. If you want an interesting book on behaviour and relationships which really will change your perspective then read 'Why Men Don't Listen and Women Can't Read Maps" by Allan and Barbara Pease (sadly not available on Audible).

Don't sweat the small stuff...
I was drawn to this book by the title and the reference to Wayne Dyer who coined this phrase.
Having now finished this book, I was surprised how much of it seemed to copy Dyer's work (which I have read a lot of). This was disappointing as I thought the author may have his own take on life, not just repeating Dyer's pearls of wisdom.
In parts of the book, I felt the advice was patronising and irrelevant, such as 'Take out the trash' in reference to doing other people's chores for them. In other parts, there seemed to be a lot of repetitive advice disguised under different headings.
The only reason I gave it 3 stars for the story is that the good bits were, in my opinion, taken from Wayne Dyer's incredible books so I would recommend reading his work instead so you get a whole book of great advice rather than fragmented bits intertwined with the not so good.

Great simple reminders of life
In these busy modern days it’s easy to get bogged down by anything and lose site of what really matters.
This is a great little book to remind us to treasure the important things in life. It’s simple, easy to read and anyone can relay to.
