Summary

F--k It has taken the world by storm, helping countless people to let go, stop struggling, and finally do what they want; to ignore what everyone else is telling them and go their own way. This now classic book has been updated with inspirational new material from John C. Parkin. For the first time in audio, John shares his irreverent but important wisdom with the world.
In this inspiring and humorous book, John suggests that saying F--k It is the perfect Western expression of the Eastern spiritual ideas of letting go, giving up, and finding real freedom by realising that things don't matter so much (if at all). It's a spiritual way that doesn't require chanting, meditating, wearing sandals or eating pulses. And it's the very power of this modern-day profanity that makes it perfect for shaking us Westerners out of the stress and anxiety that dominate our meaning-full lives. So, find out how to say F--k It It to all your problems and concerns. Say F--k It to all the 'shoulds' in your life and finally do what you want to do, no matter what other people think.

Dangerous Nonsense

I usually have quite a patience for books that I’m not enjoying. I finish almost all books that I start, because sometimes the message can only be fully understood if the whole piece is perceived. I get this because I read a lot of non-fiction, which can be quite dry and un-stimulating but nevertheless have great value as pieces of information.

F**K IT is detached from any such value. In the case of this book, I do not need to finish it to understand its full message. John Perkins is a terribly uniformed and ignorant person that asserts opinions with the pretence of authority. His writing is riddled with logical fallacies and he has clearly cherry picked information to suit his own needs – to sell BS to people.

The f**k it sentiment has value in it’s own right but his take on it is so far separated from reality that it’s quack “Alternative” advice disguised as credible help.

John Parkin has no legitimate authority in this area. He takes a lot of very clever people’s ideas and tries to pass them off as his own, while also not explaining them in a way that would do such ideas justice. He is certainly not a psychologist, yet makes some large generalising statements and advice that in fact have a large capacity to be very dangerous; he is no nutritionist yet makes, again, dangerous statements; he is no doctor, but has uninformed opinions about how they work and gives harmful advice advocating “alternative medicine” (I think you’re starting to see a pattern here); he is no philosopher, yet makes a catastrophic attempt at philosophical arguments; he is no physicist but has the audacity to interpret “energy” with his frivolous, uneducated brain; and so on and so on. In spite of this, there are four things that he actually is – a thief, a quack, a lunatic, and a moron.

If you have any interest in this narrative there are far more deserving authors for whom you could part from your money with. Authors that coherently explain the principles of their theories, that have original ideas and don’t steal others’ without acknowledgement, that don’t cherry pick to suit their own needs, and describe fully the implications of their theories.

F**K it on the other hand is a congealed sludge of nonsense and after just over half the book I thought “F**k it” life is too short for this.

The Most Powerful Book I Have Ever Read

When I heard John speak at this year's Hay House Summit about the subject matter of his book, I was gripped by the sheer profundity of the profane and listened with intent. Not being one to swear l naturally gravitated to John's voice and motive.

This book really freed me from religious self-limitations that have blocked me. I will always keep listening to this book. In fact, I am buying a hard copy version to feast on in black and white. I recommend this book to those who are ready to mind blown.
