Summary

Final Exit is the most famous book on voluntary euthanasia and assisted suicide. There is unique step-by-step language for the competent adult who is terminally or hopelessly ill to bring their life to a peaceful, non-violent end if they wish. Final Exit outlines the legal complications connected with dying, death, hastened death, euthanasia laws, suicide, living wills, and advance directives. Derek Humphry explores the problems with life insurance, as well as the ethics of double suicide.

Good that such a book exists...

but I guess if the advice is truly good. it would be a bit difficult to report on its ultimate effectiveness : )

I DISAGREE!

I bought this to listen to on Audible only because I saw this book at an elderly family members' house therefore I wanted to know what it said. As a Christian I have great empathy for those who suffer, especially because I am 100% disabled and have lived with horriffic chronic pain 24 hours a day 7 days a week for 20 years (as of 2018). I suffer from two failed back surgeries low back pain, tumors on my spine causing horrible pain in my thoracic region, fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, depression, Complex PTSD, high anxiety, ADHD and ADD, Etc. I suffer terribly everyday and have no quality of life, never go have fun, can barely get groceries & keep up w/house stuff, but I became a born-again Believer and gave my heart to the Lord in 2001 and know without a doubt that killing oneself is wrong. I cannot speak for anybody else, I can only speak for myself, nor do I judge anyone else should they choose this route, but I also have an only sibling that committed suicide, so I understand what the people who are left behind feel like, and it's horrendous. My elderly family members are in their 80s and are healthier than I am at 53! They have early to mid- Alzheimers and dementia and I know how terrible that is but they are not in pain and they can go longer and do more than I am able to! I think suicide is selfish, causes terrible suffering for those left behind for the rest of their lives, but like I said that's my opinion only.
