Summary

New York Times best-selling author Rob Bell shows us how to discover the greatness we were born for, successfully pursue our dreams, find our paths, and live confident, fulfilled lives.

Rob Bell believes that each of us has a path, a calling - whether it's writing a novel, starting a business, joining a band, or simply becoming a volunteer. But many people are afraid to start on that path. Who are we to do that? Bell counters, why not you? We need to learn to turn off the internal and external critics and leap. The universe is alive to help us. And we can discover passion and joy only after we take off.

Interweaving engaging stories; lessons from Biblical figures; science, art, and business; honest personal experience; and practical advice, he offers invaluable insight on how to silence our critics, move from idea to action, take the first step, find joy in the work, persevere through hard times, and surrender the outcome.

Combining the practical inspiration of Stephen Pressfield's The War of Art and the warm, instructional insight of Anne Lamott's Bird By Bird, How to Be Here encourages us to leave boring behind and embrace the fulfilling lives we are meant to have.

Excellent story telling

I love Rob Bell’s voice and enunciation. This book read by him brings the story to live in a way only he does. He sets the example of how to be here not just by the content of the book but by how present and joyful he is in the reading of this book. It’s a full experience. Thank you!

Game changer

Rob Bell's work has changed everything for me. I am from a non religious background and always found 'the big religions' particularly Christianity rarefied and beyond me. Rob has helped me understand deep religious and spiritual wisdom (No membership card required) from a sound historical perspective and with the wonder of a child. His reading here is warm and funny. Love!!

a great way back to human 'being'

Rob Bell reminds you of all the stuff you know about how awesome your life is but have misplaced in the daily busy-ness and human doing of the everyday. This is a great book to bring you right back into human 'being'. And his narration is as ever perfect, personal, intimate and expansive.
