Summary
A new edition of this perennial classic. "The best introductory work on Tibetan Buddhist tantra available today." - Janet Gyatso, Harvard University.
What is tantra? Who is qualified to practice it? How should it be practiced? What are the results? According to Buddhism, every human being has the potential to achieve profound and lasting happiness. And according to the tantric teachings of Buddhism, this remarkable transformation can be realized very quickly if we utilize all aspects of our human energy - especially the energy of our desires. Introduction to Tantra is the best available clarification of a subject that is often misunderstood. Tantra recognizes that the powerful energy aroused by our desire is an indispensable resource for the spiritual path. It is precisely because our lives are so inseparably linked with desire that we must make use of desire's tremendous energy not just for pleasure, but to transform our lives. Lama Yeshe presents tantra as a practice leading to joy and self-discovery, with a vision of reality that is simple, clear, and relevant to 21st-century life.

interesting but troublesome
unfortunately this otherwise interesting book is marred by a claim that meditation can cure cancer.

Unconvincing
Poorly argued. Dependant on sweeping generalisations and assumptions. To my mind, it is at times Illogical. I gave up about half way through, even though it's short. Tantra deserves better exponents than this.

Great Book on Buddhist Tantra
A great source of tantric insights. Although it is an introduction to Tantra, it does require that the reader has read more yoga and Tantra books and has already a steady yoga or Tantra practice in order to properly understand the book.

Interesting & Enlightening
I loved this book, so much that I listened to the whole thing in one sitting.
I've largely considered myself agnostic, veering towards spiritualism and as such, have shown an interest in many religions and beliefs. Nothing has ever quite fitted for me.
I've developed my own beliefs over the years by taking what feels right from the many options out there and forming something that I feel comfortable living with. I was really surprised to learn that the majority of this book reflects what feels right for me. I was also surprised that it was openly acknowledged and accepted that other religions exist and it's OK to hold your own beliefs and follow your chosen religion but still choose to follow the practices outlined. This is such a refreshing change from the strict teachings of most organised religions and will certainly encourage me to read/listen to the follow up book.
For me, the narrators slight accent added an authenticity to the book and I often found myself believing that the author himself was narrating instead of an Iraqi-Canadian actor (an excellent choice).
All in all a fabulous must-read.

Not at all what I had expected
I suppose I had many preconceptions about tantra. The book does not describe a sexual practice but a philosophical framework. I might disagree with this framework in some points but I am nonetheless wiser and might adapt some of these practices.

Becomes waffly and unspecific. Such monotone narration.
Wouldn’t recommend. Had to return after half way through, thinking it would improve. Would rather spend the credit and time on something worthwhile.

Great Wisdom
I have learned a lot for my personal journey ahead. Especially for my inner life and the way I really want to be. Highly recommended if you believe you have an spiritual opening that calls for wisdom and knowledge that can’t really be transmitted with words.
