This book is really dense and full of hugely helpful ways of looking at the world. I was about 2/3 of the way through this book when I received some terrible news and experienced a bereavement soon after. This book helped me so much not only supporting me through the experience, but it also gave me the tools to minimise the impact and take the situation forward in a constructive way. I can’t thank Steven Franssen enough and would recommend anyone give this book a try if they are on a journey of self improvement; whatever stage. As the title suggests there is a right wing bias, but I think this book will really help anyone even if that person has a very different political view. There is so much of psychology packed into this one audiobook which is made up of lots of small essays and this formula works quite well. There is no obvious and old school cliche’d tips that we’ve all heard 100 times (be in the now, write down your goals etc) this is more a book which helps you to better understand yourself, the world and what it is to love a good life and be “happy” At no time did I feel Steven was being pretentious and the whole thing is laid out in simple language which was welcome (even though I am not an idiot)
Highly recommend this to anyone interested in self help especially if you share Fransenn’s more right wing politics, but even so if you aren’t and just want to get your head right and live a happy and fulfilled life.
