Nice combination of Psychology and Buddhism

A nice book with a combination of Psychology and Buddhism. The narration could have been more engaging

One of the best books I've listened to

A great book, if not a little long. Definitely an easy listen though and incredibly valuable. Buy this book!

Highly recommended

If you are interested in mindfulness or the work of Tara Brach I would definitely have a listen to this excellent, accessible book. Before listening to this I struggled to fully grasp the concept of compassion but the authors set it out so clearly here, with lots of examples and exercises that it has really helped me to understand the concept, and in the process myself and my thought patterns. Learning more about compassion has definitely been life changing for me and I would highly recommend this book as part of that journey.

Not one for me

On the plus side, the content is well structured and argued. Also the narrator is good just a little pandatic and pedestrian, but clear and cleanly read. So highish rating from me. However I am not a Buddhist and regardless how you spin it, it is a religion which follows a misogynistic path, which if you keep this in mind, none of the teachings can be taken seriously. If the subject had been fully split from Buddhism I would have had more time for the book. Nothing new, and the spin onto psychology is a juxtaposition.

Interesting!

This was an interesting book.
A PDF would have been useful for the second part (exercises).
