Brave, beautiful, and haunted by her past, demon hunter Anna MacKinley will do anything to help the Connors. Under divine orders, the headstrong warrior travels the world, slaying demons and vampires. When she stumbles upon a hidden stone fortress while searching for her clan’s lost Book of Battles, dark forces swiftly imprison her - and she discovers her cell mate is a gorgeous Scottish warrior who has no memories, but looks strikingly familiar.
And only a secret from the past can win the day…and her heart.
The warriors of the centuries-old Connor Clan search for their missing time-vault and the powerful relic within. What they find is a grave…and a kilt-clad body they fear is the long-lost Tavis Connor. But there may yet be more to the Highland warrior’s fate than a pile of bones. Desperate to save his brother and his clan’s Book of Battles from a demon hell-bent on destruction, Tavis begins a 150-year quest that will end in modern-day New York. But when he wakes, he discovers he’s the one in need of help. His only hope of rescue is a bonny lass who claims to be a warrior. A warrior waging war on demons…and his heart.

Confusing & Complicated
This story had such a promising start….but then the more I listened….the more confusing the story became. It has time traveling, demons, warriors, but I just didn't feel like this was a well written or put together story. To me the characters were uninteresting, and I couldn't get invested in them. I wanted to like this audio, tried really hard to finish, but gave up around 70%. I just couldn't take another minute. I don't know……maybe it was me.
I'll admit when it comes to narrators, I'm really not picky, and normally easy to please; however, Sue's narration definitely did not help with this confusing story. As the plot progresses, more characters are introduced, but I had very hard time keeping up with who was speaking. All the characters sounded the same. I actually, switched from just listening to using immersion reading with my Kindle app. Even with being able to hear, and see the words, the narration was just ok.
I don't like discouraging anyone from listening, but would not recommend using a credit.

Loved the story hated the reader
This is the third book in a series. Awaken the Highland Warrior and Embrace the Highland Warrior being the first two books and very well narrated by Susie Riddell. I was looking forward to the third in the series only to be extremely disappointed by the change in narrator. You have only to read the other reviews here to find most of the complaints regarding Sue Pitkin's performance in Heart of a Highland Warrior. I can only hope that Audible will consider redoing this book with the original narrator, Susie Riddell, or even a good male narrator. As it is, I would suggest you read the book and skip buying the present audiobook edition.
