Summary

The unseen assailant attacked Dr. Miranda Jones outside her Maine home as she returned from a busy lecture tour. After terrorizing her with a knife held to her throat, he stole her purse, slashed her tires, and disappeared. Shaken and bruised, Miranda was determined to put the assault out of her mind, and welcomed the distraction offered by a summons to Italy to verify the authenticity of a Renaissance bronze of a Medici courtesan known as The Dark Lady.
However, instead of cementing Miranda's reputation as a leading authority in her field, the bronze nearly destroys it when her professional judgment is called into question, and the bronze is declared a hoax.
Desperate to restore her credibility and prove The Dark Lady is really a previously unknown work of Michelangelo, Miranda turns to Ryan Boldari, a seductive - and supposedly reformed - art thief. For Miranda, forced to rely on herself and a partner with his own hidden agenda, the only way home is filled with treachery, deception, and a danger that threatens everything she loves.

Typical N Roberts

Daft romance with a bit of a thriller thrown in. A bronze artifact is believed to be false, ruining the heroine's reputation; and wouldn't you just know it, the art thief who may have had something to do with it falls in love with her! Haha.

Slow to start but it picks up...

...overall an enjoyable book. Performance was too fast at the start but I got used to the fast pace of reeding.

A fun thrilling mystery with some art and sex.

A strong principled but introverted heroine finds herself forced to work with a dashing, rambunctious thief in order to unravel the mysterious art thefts and forgeries surrounding her.
In my opinion this is one of Roberts's best novels: no supernatural stuff, nothing too gory or dark, and what it does contain is wonderful: two very different characters who challenge one another, fabulous works of art, many mysterious crimes and lots of beautiful locals. It's romantic, very sexy and funny. I might just listern to it all over again! The narrator did a pretty good job, too.

To Love a Theif

What did you like best about this story?

I liked how the relationship between Ryan and Miranda happened.

Have you listened to any of Erika Leigh’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I haven't listened to her performances before but she did well. I liked how she was able to go from Italian to Irish to Proper English in an instant.
