Not the best of Nora Roberts

I do not fault the writing or performance. However, I struggled to find the characters likeable. Luke was written as an arrogant bully with violent tendencies. And Roxanne is depicted as a wilful attention seeker that blew hot & cold. I kept listening in the hope it improved, but was ready to quit the story at one point when Luke grabs & handcuffs her as they are arguing. A more dysfunctional relationship is hard to imagine. I made myself listen to the end, but cannot say I enjoyed it.

Storyline isn't bad but the delivery is awful!

It sounds like it's read by a computer very disappointing indeed. The storyline isn't as grabbing as I've come to expect from Nora Roberts. Overall I would say poor, and don't waste your money.

Poor audio

I enjoyed the story as always with Nora Roberts...not one of my favourites but still an enjoyable bit of escapism. Unfortunately the audio was very poor - sounded like the woman was under water reading...very tinny and robotic at times...this became rather annoying as the book does go on some but I stuck it out as liked the actual story (which I have read in paperback before).

unsympathetic characters

I have to say that I laboured through this one. I usually like Nora Roberts' books as light relief. The two main characters bickered their way through the whole book and I felt like telling them to grow up. I found the hero most unlikeable and rather lacking in sense. The story opens when he returns after being absent for five years. There's no good explanation of why he couldn't have contacted his family and told them what the problem was.
The summary refers to the heroine as being a thief, but I had assumed that was some sort of plot twist. In fact all the 'sympathetic' characters are thieves and their only self-justification appears to be that they enjoy it. Perhaps this was meant to give a Raffles-like air to them, but it didn't work for me.
