Amazing and relatable.

I loved this book. I am very much similar in the story of Andrew but my name is Jessica not Amanda. I got emotional at points and the author really wrote a great book and I'll be getting it physically too now xx

Excellent story but needs a content warning

The story starts off discussion with discussion of suicide, it's all well done but if you have a history it can be a shock.

Phenomenally flawless

It's hard to try and muster up the words to describe this book. Okay, it isn't realistic in Tiley, as the endnotes says, and in my opinion, the note at the end is just as important as the book itself, but the story… it's a romance, it's A self discovery novel of self acceptance, it is in my opinion, a future gem for LGBT readers. Please if you are considering listen to this, Go ahead. If the romance aspect puts you off, don't worry, I hate romances. I despise them with a passion, and that is no exaggeration. But this, this is the romance that even I ruted for, and when you crack me, the hardest of the lot when it comes to romance, you know you've done a good job. And, just when I was getting bored of the romance aspect, the author seemed to know and brought the focus away from Grant for a bit. It was creepy, like she had read my mind. Guys, I am gender queer, and take this from me, it does not disappoint. It was everything I wanted and more. Thank you Meredith. And Side note, I think the authors note at the end is actually read bye Russo herself, so for that reason and the content with it's reassuring message and advice and knowledge, please, please listen.

A very important book

I absolutely adored this book! I loved how well the author wrote about gender identity and sexuality in such a way that I could have a connection to the characters although I was not going through the same things as them. I think that this a very important book to read, or listen to, especially young people such as myself. I felt like I learned so much from this book yet in such a way that wasn't boring or preachy, just a well written story in the voice of a trans character. If this book was read and enjoyed by more people then I feel like that could really help with the way we view trans people or anyone who is different to ourselves. Also, I love that audible included the message from the author at the end as it was a very nice touch and helpful to anyone who has enjoyed this book or is going through the same struggles as the characters in this story. To conclude, I utterly adored this story and its characters but I would live to know what happens next with Amanda and Grant! Sequel please! - Megan age 14

Brilliant and eye opening book

I was gripped by Amanda's story from beginning to end. It was heart rending at times reading of her journey to be the person she'd always felt she was inside, and it provoked feelings of anger towards those who judged her so harshly. As a Christian I found the church part of the story interesting and I liked Anna.

I didn't realise the author was trans until the end of the book. Thank you for writing it. I hope it makes people think and understand better how hard it must be to embark on a journey to transition to the gender a person feels they have always been.

An eye opening story!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! It was so interesting to learn about Amandas life from her perspective, and the struggles that transgender people go through. I found her story eye opening and heart warming, and really fell in love with the characters.

I really warmed to the narrator too, who I think did a wonderful job at portraying the characters.

4* Would definitely recommend!

I loved it

At first the accent used by Ms Mounts was a surprise but it makes the story more real since it matches the area of USA where the story is set. Her performance is fantastic and she portrays all the characters very well. 5 stars for her performance.

The story is lovely, sweet and although as the author admits it's a little easier for Amanda than many Trans people experience, this doesn't take away anything from the story IMO. I really encourage everyone to listen to this story whether they be Trans, CIS, gay, straight, bi, pan or however they self identify.

The story is one of hope, love, personal growth and acceptance for multiple characters, not just Amanda.

Finally I absolutely loved the message from the author at the end. She obviously speaks from experience and she does an excellent job of trying to reach out to those who are feeling desperate, suicidal and worthless and her appeal is so moving I was brought to tears.

Powerful coming of age story. Brilliantly narrated

Open & overt sexism, racism & homophobia have for the most part [ on an individual level at least ] become socially unacceptable in progressive societies. But unfortunately to our shame the same cannot be said for transphobia however whilst not ignoring this fact and never becoming preachy - author Meredith Russo needs to be highly commended for expertly weaving a very bright & uplifting teenage coming of age story.

We see through Amanda's eyes as she navigates life in a body that does not reflect who she really is inside. Samia Mounts energetically narrates managing to distinguish & capture all the different characters leaving you eagerly waiting for what happens next at the end of every chapter. It would make a very entertaining movie.

An important & throughly engaging production I highly recommend to all, one the best I have heard on audible so far !

Enjoyable read about an important topic

Quite an easy going fun read that also raises awareness. Really liked Russo's acknowledgments at the end giving her thought process. Worth a listen!
