I'd always been different. I saw objects in the night where others saw emptiness. Large, human-shaped shadows, fierce yet beautiful, melting into the darkness. I collected secrets like other women collected bells, afraid to trust fully lest my oddities be exposed.
Until I saw him. He'd been gliding down the street, unshakable confidence in every step. It wasn't just that he was breathtakingly handsome, with perfect features. Something about him drew me. Sucked my focus to him and then tugged at my body. As his eyes met mine, I was entrapped.
No one had noticed him. He'd been right there, just beyond the light, but only I had perceived.
I had to know if he was real. Or maybe I really was crazy. And even when my secret box was blasted wide open, dangers hurled at me like throwing knives, I couldn't stop until I unraveled his true identity.
I just had to know.

Not really a book in itself
This is very short and feels more like the first 3-4 chapters of a longer book. There is a LOT of sex and not that much story, though there is promise of a more intriguing tale if you're willing to pay for multiple books to find out. The narration is not great, very flat and laconic which undercuts any snap or humour to the writing. Not really worth a credit or more than a few pounds

Ok... this was different...
I like the story...but the cliffhanger ending was so expected... since I still don't know what the main characters are!!! There has to be a book 2, if not... then this story was simply incomplete.
So...the basic jest of the story is Shasha is unlike other humans in that she can sense shadows...or rather people in the shadows... She can see what "normal" humans cannot. Which we find out later, that Shasha unlike other humans can use magic. Seveyn is the "boss" or rather the leader of a group of a different race of humans. Seveyn's race is where the vampire legend comes from.
The story is confusing in that there is no name for Seveyn's race... what do we call him... so Shasha calls him a vamp...but is he? Then what is Shasha?
So... there is a lot of action and a fight scene when a rival (Seveyn's race) of people attack...but Shasha uses too much magic and ends up killing up the bad guys, but now she has to drink Seveyn's blood..which causes a bond... But wait... Shasha and Seveyn already have a bond!!! They are mates...which Seveyn nor Shasha have yet to figure out..
Don't get me wrong...this story was very good, and well worth the credit, buy or sale... I just feel incomplete... Only one smexy time between Seveyn and Shasha...but Shasha does get it on with her ....wait for it..... BOYFRIEND.... lol.... Luke... and Seveyn bangs this crazy b*tch once.... but IDK... like I said... this was a great story... very promising...but the ending... Geez.... at least tell me what my main characters are...
Seriously... this is totally worth a buy, credit or sale...
Narration was pretty good... No complaints...

the Book was better than the audio vision
i REALLY love this series. i have them all and have read them all. i finally listened to the audio version at work and i was falling asleep. i do not like the narrator at ALL. she has porno-perma-voice added to a lazy vocal style Like she's on a veranda in the South asking for a mint Julip or she has seen to many B movie vampire flicks. ALL the voices are lazy and drawn out and cheesy vampire. made me want to shake her.
