Summary

This edition features an interview with Cathy Kelly.

It all started with Paris... At the top of the Eiffel Tower, a young man proposes to his girlfriend, cheered on by delighted tourists.

With her trademark warmth and insight, Cathy Kelly weaves a delightful tale spinning out from this once-in-a-lifetime moment, drawing together a terrific cast of characters with stories of their own.

Vonnie, a widow and exceptional cake-maker, is just daring to let love back into her life, but someone is determined to stop it.

Leila, devotedly working for her boss, but realizing her devotion is turning to something more romantic.

Grace, a divorced head-teacher, starting to wonder whether she faces a lifetime of being alone. The impending wedding of her daughter means that she's spending more time with her ex-husband. After ten years apart, is it possible she's made a mistake?

Beautifully human

If you could sum up It Started with Paris in three words, what would they be?

A wonderful listen.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Grace; she's so independant and caring, and I love the way that she keeps up with her old students and still worries about them! Also, she's not at all bitter about her divorce, or anything for that matter.

What about Olivia Caffrey’s performance did you like?

She expressed the individuality of all the characters really well, and it was always easy to tell who was speaking. Her American accent was well-maintained.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

You have to have rain to get your rainbow.

Any additional comments?

I have to admit I thought it would be a typical chick-lit, but it really isn't! The web of characters means you never get bored of the story, because there are so many stories within it!

Abit meh

Too many characters. I felt that there too many characters who had stories that went no where.

Generally enjoyable

Any additional comments?

Enjoyed parts of this book more than others, which I found somewhat saccharine. A large cast of characters meant that it was occasionally difficult to remember who was who. The thread I most enjoyed dealt with the difficulties experienced by the young daughters of a divorced couple, dragged in separate directions by the parents' inabilities to see what was happening and their mother's issues with anger management.

Excellent!

I thoroughly enjoyed 'It Started with Paris' with its blend of warm characters and multiple storylines. Olivia Caffrey's narration was a joy to listen to, softly expressive and differentiating the characters to perfection.

A good story true to life

I thoroughly enjoyed this book however the amount of characters was a bit confusing. It was like a few stories being told at the same time. The narrator was excellent and gave you a good feel for each character. Great story well told.
