Summary

"Neighbours...hah! People'd live for ages side by side, nodding at one another amicably on their way to work, and then some trivial thing would happen, and someone would be having a garden fork removed from their ear."

Throughout history, there's always been a perfectly good reason to start a war. Never more so if it is over a "strategic" piece of old rock in the middle of nowhere. It is, after all, every citizen's right to bear arms to defend what they consider to be their own. Even if it isn't. And in such pressing circumstances, you really shouldn't let small details like the absence of an army - or indeed the money to finance one - get in the way of a righteous fight with all the attendant benefits of out-and-out nationalism.

Tony Robinson is a incredible narrator

I love the way Tony Robinson brings all the characters to life. With all the characters having their own voices, which remain consistent throughout the whole discworld series. an incredible talent. If I see his name on an audio book I know it's going to be good. I'd love to hear him read more books.

Abridged version

Much of the subtly and wit of the original book is lost in this truncated version. a pity as Tony Robinsins reads of Dsicworld are always my preference to Nigel Planner, however he does the unabridged version.

Heavily abridged and missing the best humour

I brought a book I’ve read before and dearly loved. I got half a book. And where I got excited for a good bit coming up, it wasn’t there at all!

A good listen

Loved the voice acting - an excellent medley of voices.
Classic disc world book with a good flow.

has had the soul cut out.

it has had all the footnotes removed, terrible adaptation which looses most of the soul and humour of the book.
