Summary

Just Eat It isn’t just an audiobook. It’s part of a movement to give women power and control over our bodies. To free us from restrictive dieting, disordered eating and punishing exercise. To reject the guilt and anxiety associated with eating and, ultimately, to help us feel good about ourselves.

This anti-diet guide from registered nutritionist Laura Thomas PhD can help you sort out your attitude to food and ditch punishing exercise routines. As a qualified practitioner of Intuitive Eating - a method that helps followers tune in to innate hunger and fullness cues - Thomas gives you the freedom to enjoy food on your own terms.

There are no rules: only simple, practical tools and exercises including mindfulness techniques to help you recognise physiological and emotional hunger, sample conversations with friends and colleagues, and magazine and blog critiques that call out diet culture.

So, have you ever been on a diet? Spent time worrying that you looked fat when you could have been doing something useful? Compared the size of your waistline to someone else's? Felt guilt, actual guilt, about the serious crime of...eating a doughnut? You're not alone. Just Eat It gives you everything you need to develop a more trusting, healthy relationship with food and your body.

The audiobook of Just Eat It includes four bonus podcast episodes featuring the author, Laura Thomas PhD, RNutr, and a contributor per episode including Sofie Hagen, Natalie Lee (of StyleMeSunday), Tally Rye and Clemmie Telford.

Ruined by unnecessary swearing

Very interesting and refreshingly new approach towards food.I can imagine this information being quite empowering for some women, also it really challenges personal perspectives around diet, society, and health care professionals attitudes.Sadly this was ruined and really cheepened by the unnecessary use of continual f..ing and jefing.,which was really distracting....not big and not cleaver!!!!

A step towards a better future

I've struggled with eating disorders for nearly 15 years and had huge trouble ever even admitting to it until recently. I found this book randomly and decided to give it a try. I do not regret it! I think this a stepping stone for something bigger for me and for others. I have deleted all calorie counting apps and put my scale away. I struggle but I feel a huge shift for better future. Thanks. I recommend this for every woman - not just for the ones who have eating disorders.

Compassionate and real

Evidence-based advice from somebody who knows their subject. Well-informed and full of tools to help you give up food rules while tuning back into your body and the signals it is giving you. Nourishment for body and soul. I wish I had this book years ago. The author is clear and her compassion shines through.

Life Changing

I was recommended this book by someone and wasn’t fussed about reading it as I didn’t think intuitive eating was for me. However I had credits to use up so gave it a go ... never did I think it was going to send me on the journey that it did! Laura’s explanation of intuitive eating made me realise it’s not at all what I thought it was. I’m not saying I’ve cracked it all but I know what my new goals are now and they have nothing to do with the way I look!

This book will teach you make peace with food

I am a nutritionist, have been following Laura's work for 2 years and was looking forward to the book for a while. The book teaches how to apply intuitive eating in real life which is a non-diet nutrition approach used by nutritionists and dietitians with clients who are chronic dieters or have a problematic relationship with food. It is aimed at the general public and is written in an easy to understand way. I think it's a good resource to get someone started with intuitive eating. If you are sick and tired of dieting and feeling guilty of what you eat, this book is for you!

Life changing book. Thank you Laura!

This book has genuinely given me such a better perspective on why we need to change how we’re thinking about food, body weight. Etc. I went on my first diet when I was 8 years old and have been on one since. I am now 26 and vowed to never. Diet. Again. Yassss!!!!!!
