Summary

Katy Carter knows she's no domestic goddess: she's scatterbrained, she needs a fire extinguisher at the ready when she's cooking and she daily falls off the diet wagon. But that doesn't stop her fantasising about a hero to call her own. And Katy thinks she's found him in fiancé James, a charming, high-flying city banker.

So why, then, does Katy find herself scribbling steamy historical romances every spare moment she gets and daydreaming about becoming a published author when she ought to be paying attention in staff meetings?

As her wedding day looms, Katy determines to become a wife James can be proud of and employs the help of her best friend, Oliver, to impress James' colleagues and family. But despite best laid plans, the pair set off a hilarious train of events that leads Katy on a crazy journey through celebrity, chaos and makeovers and, finally, into the arms of her hero.

Just loved it

Loved this breath of fresh air! Loved the funny chaotic Katy Carter. Loved the well written story which carried me along Katy’s ups and downs. Loved the insight into the different characters. Loved the reader who breathed life into every word. Just loved it!

Absolutely loved it!

Such a wonderful book and so well narrated too.
I can't remember when I both laughed so hard and shed tears over the incredibly relatable characters on this book.
I'd highly recommend this book to anyone who believes to be down on their luck and who finally need to understand and accept the they may be in a relationship with a narcissistic partner and hopefully find the strength to remove themselves away from it/them and be truly happy at last.
Life DOES have a 'funny' way of rearranging things only to become better and happier in the end.

Katy Carter Wants a Hero

It took me a while to get into it however I am so glad I stuck with it as it was a great listen. Real laugh out loud moments as well as shouting comments. Lol.

Definitely worth a listen.

Great read really enjoyed the story ... funny and sad ... a bit drawn out in places but still a good listen.

Story for 12 year old

Honestly this is like listening to a story from Bravo Girl!
This is just so painful… I have not finished it yet but I found myself fast forward so I can see if it gets any better… unfortunately it doesn’t…
Narration is really good but that’s about all that is good about this book!

Utterly lovely and heart warming

I truly loved this book. The writing was great and the characters really came alive. Initially I was a bit nervous that there would be another cliche pixie dream girl trope but the female protagonists character arc was amazing and her personality developed so much more depth than I initially expected. The male protagonist as well as the different antagonists were also really well developed and even though the genre tends to promise a HEA there were times I stopped and wondered how the heck that was going to happen. The narration was spot on as well and kept great pace. Well worth the read!

Easy listening but annoying main character

It's an easy, obvious listen. The main character is mostly likable but her stupidity was a bit wearing. The story definitely felt dragged out but it was entertaining most of the time. The narrator was good, except for the moments you could hear her swallowing saliva.
