When this is over I'm getting a new partner.

This is the 15th stand alone book in Robert Thornhill's superb tales about Walt, a retired estate agent and property developer, turned cop in his senior years. Each book is a joy as Walt relates his experiences both inside and out of the police force, full of colourful characters, great crime stories, ideas to ponder, and lots, I do mean lots, of comedic action and laughter.
And, as always, George Kuch is the superb narrator, Walt, as he recounts his stories to us breathing life into every action.

In this book, Walt and his police partner, Ox, first meet Ben, a war veteran plagued with nightmare flashbacks, when he saves the pair from a home invasion shooter who had them holed up. Through him they become aware of the plight of many returnees as well as going undercover (again) to flush out fraudsters, celebrate Walt's 70th birthday, and are threatened by terrorists. And this is funny? Oh yes it is.
If you haven't get experienced this marvellous series, start now. No need to tell readers who have already met the Lady Justice of Thornhill's books - this one is highly recommended.

Awesome Story!

Wow! This story really impacted my views regarding veterans and everything they sacrificed. Also, I thought it was great how the author brought to light the medicare fraud that happens all too often. Robert Thornhill has such a wonderful writing style in bringing several issues to light and writes such wonderful characters. I love Walt, Mary, Ox, Judy, and the rest of the crew. This book is both part of a series (Lady Justice) and a standalone listen. I enjoy how George Kuch performs each of the characters and delivers the humor. The concept of a 70 year old retiree being a active police officer is so much fun. This book has humor, heartache, friendship and so many other emotions. I requested this book and have voluntarily written this review. I will definitely listen to more books by both the author and narrator.

Can't get enough of this series!

The author provided me with a complimentary copy of this audiobook with no expectation of a review. I love this series and can't get enough of it! This book was a little more somber than other books in the series. As you can probably surmise from the title, it focuses on veterans, their injuries, difficulties re-entering civilian life, and their hardships receiving the help they need to cope with physical and mental wounds.

It also showed that veterans (of any age) can be useful in society even with life-altering injuries. Even though this book was somewhat somber in tone, it was still enjoyable. Walt and the gang had plenty of adventures.

This book also had audio problems with George Kuch's performance. I'm not sure what is going on but his voice would change tone in mid-sentence, would suddenly get louder and then resume normal volume level, and the character's voice would also change mid-sentence. It was very distracting. I hope whatever is causing these issues will be resolved. I love George Kuch's performances and hate that there are audio problems preventing his performances from being perfect.
