Summary
Two years ago, Darren Street made a name for himself as the man who rooted out corruption in the district attorney's office. Now the hotheaded young lawyer is in the public eye yet again - this time, accused of murder.
Jalen Jordan retained Street for what seemed to be a minor traffic violation, but when evidence turned up linking Jordan to the death of two boys, Street wanted out of the case. To ensure his lawyer's cooperation and silence, Jordan threatened to make Street's son the next victim. Shortly after, Jordan's own body turned up with a bullet hole in his chest.
Now Street is on trial for his life, and the enemy he made in the DA's office is clearly out for blood. It's one lawyer out to frame another. Can a desperate father escape punishment for a crime he didn't commit?

Totally Substantive and Enthralling Legal Stoy
A fully comprehensive tale. You don't feel a desire to know what happens next at the conclusion of the court case because you're taken on that journey also. A very interesting journey and I look forward to the next story. The journey will hopefully be as epic and enjoyable.

Thoroughly enjoyable
Nice story well written, some drama, some twists, some violence, some tears but the goodies came through at the end. The only downer for me personally was the narrator who had an odd twang to his voice but others may not object and it wasn't bad enough to spoil the listen

Excellent!
Excellent in all respects - storyline & narration brilliant.
Listened to this book in one sitting - made me cry & laugh out loud. Will definitely be getting the next book in the series.

Better than Joe Dillard series!
I have read all of the Joe Dillard series, so thought I would try these. This story kept me listening all day. Whilst I was slightly disappointed by the way the story was resolved I still enjoyed it and will listen to the others in the series. I don’t understand why Scott Pratt isn’t more popular, he’s on a par with Grisham.

Thrilling from start to finish
This book starts off about a young man Darren Street trying to improve himself spurred on by the wrongful conviction of his uncle and his efforts to get justice so he decides to become a defense lawyer. He takes on the justice department and he fights to get justice and succeeds. He earns himself quite the reputation for being tough and it helps His practice.
when a prospective new client offers him $50K to defend him on what looks like a low level crime, he accepts then as the details of this so called new client’s crimes are divulged Darren wants out - the client tries to blackmail him and threatens his young Son that’s when all his hard work comes back to bite him when he ends up this time accused of murder in a cruel twist the ada on the case for the prosecution is the one that Darren took on and won regarding his uncle. The ADA is out for revenge and will stops at nothing to make sure history repeats itself and that Darren ends up just like his uncle.......
