Summary

February 1941. After months of bombing raids in London, 12-year-old Olive Bradshaw and her little brother, Cliff, are evacuated to the Devon coast. The only person with two spare beds is Mr Ephraim, the local lighthouse keeper.

Desperate to be helpful, Olive becomes his post girl, carrying secret messages (as she likes to think of the letters) to the villagers. But Olive has a secret of her own. Her older sister, Sukie, went missing in an air raid, and she’s desperate to discover what happened to her.

Lovely

Gentle but insightful into life for children during WWII told as an adventure story set in Devon.
Enough suspense to keep interested and rich characters to care about.
I'd recommend for ages 7 - 11. I enjoyed it as an adult too!
Nice narration.

Mystery, tears and heart warming! :D

Love it. Couldn't wait to hear the next part and finished it in 2 days! Good bit of mystery that keeps you thinking, can bring the occasional tear to the eye, but overall heart warming and enjoyable. Highly recommended. :)

Excellent!

A great story - exciting and full of intrigue. Perfect for my class of 10yr olds as we learn about ww2. Can't wait to read it to them. There is a chapter missing on the recording though.

Missing chapter

This is a great book but this recording misses a chapper - Caring for Evacuee is a national service

A wonderful listen

An easy listen, enjoyable and exciting. Some parts of the story were predictable, but it was still worth listening to.

Letters from the light house 9 year old

Letters from the lighthouse

I listened to this book and loved it . Emma Carol is an amazing author so I think you should have a listen to her books. She is very inspiring and the story helps you to spread your imagination as well as telling you a realistic explanation of a war child’s life back in the days . So I do recommend you just have a listen to her books because they are truly inspirational, especially to me . Thank you for reading this , well time to hop into another amazing story . Bye 👋🏼
