Summary
Meet Cathy Connolly - cop, kickboxing champion and now a soon-to-be mother....
Detective Garda Cathy Connolly's life has taken an unexpected turn. Faced with an unplanned pregnancy, Cathy's trying to decide how she's going to balance motherhood with the very real dangers of life on the job, especially when her latest case isn't as straightforward as it first appears.
Called to what seems like a routine break-in, Cathy discovers the bones of a baby concealed in the hem of an old wedding dress. When the dress' original owner, Lavinia Grant, is found dead in a Dublin suburb, Cathy is drawn deep into a complex web of secrets and lies spun by three generations of women.
Meanwhile, a fugitive killer has already left two dead in execution style killings across the Atlantic - and now he's in Dublin with old scores to settle. Can the team track him down before he kills again? Struggling with her own secrets, Cathy doesn't know how dangerous - and personal - this case is about to become....

Give it a chance!
The first hour or two I was a little lost as to what was happening. There were so many characters I couldn’t make head nor tail. However it all started to come together and it was bloody brilliant! Already have the next book in the series downloading. I live very close to where this book is set so it’s very eerie for me but I loved it.

Excellent
I have purchased all 3 and all 3 have been immensely enjoyed. I'm just on my 2nd listen. I pray there's going to be more. One cares for all the characters and I feel they can be taken much further. Thank you for a very pleasing listen x

Sam Blake hits a blinder!
Fantastic audiobook! The characters were real and the book captured me from the beginning. The best praise I can give a book is is how quickly I finish it. This outstanding book was finished in two sittings. I only stopped to sleep! I read mainly detective thrillers, and this one of the best! Coming to Ireland from the States 35 years ago, I thought these brave people were amazing to actually do the majority of their job without a gun! They have an amazing ability to calm situations with just talking. This book has given me a little more insight to how things are handled in the big city.

Gripping and enjoyable
I enjoyed this very much, the story line was complex enough to keep me guessing - I spent a chunk of the book wondering if the various plot lines would ever come together and running various options in my head…
Aoife McMahon is an excellent narrator and was part of the reason I chose the book.
Recommended to anyone who enjoys crime fiction with strong characterisation as well as plot.
