Summary

Last year, DS Katie Maguire and her team destroyed the biggest drug trafficker in Cork. So how is the city's drug trade at an all-time high? Meanwhile, a spate of violent attacks which leave victims severely disabled has brought confidence in the Garda to an all-time low.

As Katie investigates, she realises that the two cases might be connected. Someone is using brain-damaged victims to smuggle drugs into the country. And the only way to find out more is to go in undercover....

Wow!

Really enjoyed this book but found it darker and gorier than the others so far. I wouldn’t recommend Katie date anyone else 😉! Off to download the next one.

Living Death - alive with thrilling content!

The latest in the Katie McGuire series, and in my open moon the best so far...

It's got everything you could hope for from the master of Horror, Graham Masterton: Gore, Horror, suspense, erotica and more...

Living Death contains some of the most graphic content to date so it's NOT for the squeamish, and if you love animals then be prepared for some horrific storyline....

Having said that - it's exactly why the book is so good.

My only criticism is the same I have with all of these KM books: it finishes too abruptly!

When John does what he does - I won't spoil it - you think: oh boy this is only going to go one way....

But it doesn't, and before you know it the story ends, albeit with a juicy cliffhanger....

Brilliantly narrated I found myself immediately immersed into the Cork of Mastertons imagination.

Living Death - it will keep you hooked and begging for MORE!!!

Very grisly!

I found some of the storyline very disturbing and hard to listen to. However, this is fiction and very compelling.

Great story but graphic violence

As usual, the story is great and so is the narration but, for the first time ever, I had to skip forward because the animal violence was just too stomach churning for me. I’ve got used to skipping the sex scenes, which are completely superfluous, add nothing to the story and are downright boring. I can forgive these negative aspects though because the story itself is excellent and is worth 5*.

Review

Once you start reading or listening to the Katie McGuire series you get hooked. Although she is a bit of a one she is strong and has seen a husband and two partners die.
The books are detailed in love making and grisly deaths.
This book is about dog fighting and drug smuggling in the most horrific way. I hop it is not true to life. It doesn't bear thinking of.

Gruesome

I love this series, however this story was particularly gruesome and gory. I’m a horror fan, but I had to fast forward parts. Dog lovers beware!

Gruesome!

Another good Katie Maguire case, though I found the content much more graphic and disturbing in this book. It begins with a case of dog-napping, assault and rape and the investigation goes on from there quite logically. Even the one glaring piece of non-investigation did not annoy me too much. Katie’s personal life features strongly and is intertwined with the case and we are left with a thread dangling at the end to pull us into the next book. As always, Aoife reads brilliantly.

Gruesome

Loved most of it - a little far fetched (I hope) and very graphic. Tempted to buy another if his, but maybe give myself a lighter one in the meantime .

Starting to look too familiar

The story was very good as was the narration. The problem is that this series, although good, is throwing up almost identical events in each book surrounding the main character's personal life and colleagues. I am really going to carefully consider purchasing the next in the series.
