Summary

The rugged beauty of the Mount St. Helens wilderness is being haunted by a killer. Hikers, loggers, and local residents are dying in horrible, mysterious ways, and lawmen Bud O'Brien and Charlie Redtail are forced to think it just might be a monster...maybe Bigfoot itself.

Enter cryptozoologist Dr. Ian McDermott, PhD, who struggles with his own personal demons as he uncovers the impossible and ugly truth behind it all - an evil more malevolent than anyone ever imagined.

Loup-Garou is the first in the Ian McDermott, Paranormal Investigator series. Atmospheric, often beautiful, and always intensely scary investigations into what we were told as children were only myths and legends.

The hunt is on.

Story has a bite !

I really enjoyed the story, the music and the slight sound effects. Along with the narrator's ability, and the voice character changes, makes it all a great listen from start end.

A wonderfully described world & cool story

Where does Loup-Garou: The Beast of Harmony Falls rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I felt that it built its pace slowly but once it drew me in, it was a brilliant story. I really liked that whilst it is obviously going to be a series (title says book 1) that we got conclusion in a story rather than it just setting us up for another book. Don't get me wrong I want to read another book but its nice to get a story as well. So with that in mind, I enjoyed it, great story, certainly a great audiobook!

What did you like best about this story?

The descriptions of everything from the beast to the general environment are vivid and draw you into the story.

Which character – as performed by S.W. Salzman – was your favourite?

Ian McDermott as the lead is the easiest to pick out. Great characters in general but I always find that it is essential to relate to in some way and like a main character. Ian is great.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

The best description I can give is that the book is intensely atmospheric and visual in its writing. I really enjoyed it. I thought that the narration also complimented this well.

Great performance, though inconsistent pacing

If you want a good Werewolf mystery then this is a good one to go for, the Werewolf for the most part is kept as a mysterious looming presence that strikes fear into others, however I can't help but feel it was underused, which is odd for a book that centers around Werewolves.

The ending was also rather rushed, as was the means of the main characters learning more about the creatures, I won't go into detail here but the characters are basically spoon fed the information.

It's certainly not the best but still fairly entertaining.
