Why we think it's Essential - Quick, who directed The Evil Dead? What action hero starred in The Blob? Which movie studio became synonymous with horror for producing Frankenstein and The Wolf Man? If you can answer these questions correctly, you'll likely be thrilled with Monster Hunter International. B-movie aficionados know there's a fine line between gleefully gory camp and flat-out dross. Not to worry, Monster Hunter International knows the line. Oliver Wyman brings just the right amount of bombastic, smirking swagger to this story of big guns, big action, and a heck of a lot of monsters. —Michael

Summary

Five days after Owen Zastava Pitt pushed his insufferable boss out of a 14th story window, he woke up in the hospital with a scarred face, an unbelievable memory, and a job offer.

It turns out that monsters are real. All the things from myth, legend, and B-movies are out there, waiting in the shadows. Officially secret, some of them are evil, and some are just hungry. On the other side are the people who kill monsters for a living. Monster Hunter International is the premier eradication company in the business. And now Owen is their newest recruit.

It's actually a pretty sweet gig, except for one little problem. An ancient entity known as the Cursed One has returned to settle a centuries-old vendetta. Should the Cursed One succeed, it means the end of the world, and MHI is the only thing standing in his way.

With the clock ticking towards Armageddon, Owen finds himself trapped between legions of undead minions, belligerent federal agents, a cryptic ghost who has taken up residence inside his head, and the cursed family of the woman he loves. Business is good.... Welcome to Monster Hunter International.

Decent

A fairly simple book, but entertaining nontheless. Ideal for those listening to a book while doing something slightly distracting.

This book follows a young man (army applicant wash 0ut) who's boss tried to eat him, he then joins a bounty hunter / mercenary band who kill all things supernatural for large amounts of dollar. by the manor of apply extreme fire power and ass whoopings . sound good to you? it did to me. .

Great story and fantastic performance!

I listened to this book every morning and had a hard time stopping. It has good pace and the reader makes the characters feel so real.

The story is interesting all the way to the end!

Monster hunter

I don’t know what I was expecting from this book but whatever it was was massively surpassed. It is a great story, well written and performed beautifully. I am going to move straight onto the next volume

A little to American for me

High hopes for the book and it is not a bad story at all. However at times it reads like a NRA wet dream, far to much gun porn and god bless american and all the weapons a private collector can have. Apart from the gun loving under tone its a fun read.

Great Narrative and Fun Adventure!

The blurb tells you the essence of this tale. The premise is original but this is just the tip of the iceberg!

The audiobook is 24hrs! It’s an epic tale, fun and interesting. Not too much blood & guts, but a total gun fest!! If firepower is your thing, then you’ll enjoy it. If you don’t, you can still enjoy it!

Could be a great film franchise

I'd delayed listening to this as wasn't sure what I was going to get, but really enjoyed the entire series (except the short stories). Funny and so easy to lose yourself in and I promptly bought the rest of the books. Excellent narration.

Van Helsing meets the A-Team

Badass lines, entertaining dialogue, witty banter, well written scenic descriptions, strong characters, adorable awesomeness mixed in with horrific violent bad stuff. This is a brilliant book, and it’s interesting fun and engaging for the entire 24 hours which is rare!

Great story

I really enjoyed this story and will definitely get the rest of the series. However, in places, it felt really dragged out and some of the chapters were really long. It was tough going at times, but I still enjoyed it. Great narration too.
