Well worth a listen

This book flowed really well, the story engaging from the start. The narration was excellent and added to the enjoyment.

A disappointing choice?

This book never got out of first gear— neither in content nor style of narration.

The narrator put me to sleep

I am sure that this is a great book, but the narrator was awful. His voices were fine, but the descriptive sections were unbearable. In what I assume to be an attempt to calmly move the story on, he was dull and lack lustre,. I had to re-listen to the first 3 chapters several times, to try to give a damn about what was happening. I won't now download any more. I actually didn't care by the end.

Terrible narrative

Above average story line, well written but the narrator was in my opinion terrible, and quite distracting.

Don’t listen to the negative reviews

Having been an avid listener to the books of Chris Brookmyre, a lady told me at one of his signings that if I like him I’ll also like Alex’ work. How right she was. I now have a couple of years worth of Lorimer stories to get through and if they are as good as this one I’m in for a treat. One down, a couple of dozen to go.

Good plot

Narrator could sometimes sound like the old Church of Scotland minister, somewhat depressive. Fortunately didn’t distract too much from the storyline.

An excellent book

I loved this book, the plot is interesting and complicated enough to keep the reader interested but the relationships between the characters being added depth and interest. This is one of my favourite authors and I love this series of books. I have just listened for a second time and it was every bit as enjoyable as the first time.

Story great but dreary narrator!

The story was good and kept moving nicely throughout the book but the narrator!! At times it was like wading through treacle. So dreary and uninspiring. I had to go back over chapters many times as I just lost interest due to the tone and pace.

Introducing Glasgow's DCI Lorimer

Never Somewhere Else by Alex Gray is the first book in the DCI Lorimer series .

A serial murder is at work on the streets of Glasgow. Three young women are found in one of the city’s parks.

DCI Lorimer enlists the services of Dr. Solomon Brightman and the chase is on.

Joe Dunlop's reading is monotonous and lacks expression. It makes for a teadious listening.
