Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. Raised by a cross-dressing father (we were never allowed to talk about it), I never understood his experience. This book is a must for family members.
What does Coleen Marlo bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Marlo's reading of the book is disappointing at times, because she doesn't shift her voice to let you know when the narrative has changed. I bought a paper copy as well, so that I can make notes in important places.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The book presents the life experience of a transgendered individual. The story of childhood and adolescence is particularly heart-breaking. Society needs to understand the material presented in this book.
Any additional comments?
This book came too late for me - my father had already passed on - but I found in its pages traces of my father that helped me put his story together.
