Summary

Meaningful, moving and magical - the classic best-selling love story.

Everyone needs a guardian angel....

Some people wait their whole lives to find their soul mates. But not Holly and Gerry. Childhood sweethearts, they could finish each other's sentences and even when they fought, they laughed. No one could imagine Holly and Gerry without each other.

Until the unthinkable happens. Gerry's death devastates Holly. But as her 30th birthday looms, Gerry comes back to her. He's left her a bundle of notes, one for each of the months after his death, gently guiding Holly into her new life without him, each note signed PS, I Love You. As the notes are gradually opened, and as the year unfolds, Holly is both cheered up and challenged. The man who knows her better than anyone sets out to teach her that life goes on.

With some help from her friends, and her noisy and loving family, Holly finds herself laughing, crying, singing, dancing - and being braver than ever before. Life is for living, she realises - but it always helps if there's an angel watching over you.

Not my favourite

This is certainly not my favourite book of the year and in parts was downright silly. However, I cried copiously and laughed occasionally and it’s one of the better reads of the chic lit genre.

Great book

This is one of my favourite books, i have read it many times and seen the film a few times also. The book is 100x better than the film.
I really enjoyed listening, the performance was very good and the narrator had a very nice voice, which makes all the difference. There are a lot of books I can't listen too because of the narrators voice.

One of my favourites

Don’t be put off if you’ve seen the film as the book is much better. Enjoyed listening to this story again before the sequel Postscript.

For fans of Jojo Moyes

A really good story of how one woman copes with the death of her husband through letters he wrote before his passing. There’s also support from family and friends who help Holly as she navigates through life seeking work, holiday fun and Christmas celebrations, all without her childhood sweetheart. Very well narrated by Amy Creighton.

Not quite up to expectations

I like the idea of this book but it never quite lived up to my expectations although I kept listening because there were occasional hints that it might. The concept is good and the storyline sound but I struggled to relate to the characters. Ironically, the best written part of the (audio) book is the extract included for the next (post script) which, based on the brief extract, seems more emotionally mature.
