Summary

Cherry, Nebraska, population 312, is just off the highway between the sticks and the boonies. It’s where Dave Rhodes and his friends have lived all their lives. They own businesses, raise families, pay taxes, deal with odd neighbors, and, once or twice a month - just like their fathers before them - transform into wolves.

It’s not a bad life, but when one of the group members goes astray, it sets in motion a series of events that will threaten to destroy the delicate balance that has kept Dave and his clan off the radar. Between a son getting ready for his first transformation - called The Scratch - a wife with sordid secrets, a new sheriff who knows nothing of the creatures in his midst, and a mysterious man in a bow tie with a shady agenda, the middle of nowhere is about to get very dangerous.

Unexpected

What a brilliant book. Didn’t know what to expect followed the last title (excellent) but really enjoyed this great depiction of a wolf family.

Good story and beautiful descriptive writing. Well worth a listen/read!

Outstanding.

Part intimate nuanced family drama, part blood soaked horror, Pack draws in the listener and doesn’t let up.
The narrator does a great job with both human and wolf alike. However his Irish accent simply didn’t work.
Another great character study from Mike Bokoven.

Good

A good book but not a great book. I enjoyed it and stuck with it to the end but thought the author was struggling a bit.

Everyone is incompetent at best, stupid at worst..

and you are meant to care about them...Why?

All the characters make incredibly stupid decisions over and over again. I feel a lot of actually interesting story lines are picked up and then dropped without resolve.

Oh! and if you are Irish, just don't listen to this book the narrator is good but that man never actually heard an Irish person speak. The accent is incredibly wrong drops in and out and is quite frustrating to hear.

Terrible Irish accent! Nearly enough to make me stop listening. I didn’t, but I might have well have done. I didn’t feel emotionally connected to any of the characters and didn’t really care what happened to them. Nowhere near as good as Fantasticland.
