Summary

A gripping psychological thriller set on high seas. A transatlantic crossing that becomes a nightmare.

With no police to investigate and no escape, could it be the perfect setting for a crime? Martin Schwartz (Beesley) is an undercover detective who is recovering from his wife and sons' bizarre disappearance from a cruise ship 5 years ago. He is a desperate man willing to take big risks. Martin never wanted to step onto a cruise ship again until he receives a call which can't be ignored. On average, 23 people per year disappear without a trace from cruise ships. Never before has someone come back... until now.

Dark and difficult listening in places

I liked the storyline and the scenes with actors along side the narrator but felt it was disturbing (more than needed) and made me turn it off a few times in case someone overheard it and thought “what on earth you listening to” and it’s extremely twisted and overly described in some of the bad areas... that being said the story flowed well as a “who done it” and had lots of clever twists that even a seasoned veteran would likely miss and was a good story too which was good. Think you need a strong stomach for this one but it’s good if you can get passed some of the sicker parts (mainly early on in story)

Great twists and unexpected turns

Kept me on the edge of my seat all the way to the end. I’ll definitely buy another one of Fitzek’s books having enjoyed this one.

Gripping

I thought it was brilliant! I listened whenever I could. I loved the dramatisation of it. The actors were great - especially Max Beesley.

Great twist that I wasn't expecting.

Ludicrous Plot

Entertaining, but the several plot lines that run simultaneously are far too far fetched to be believable.

Absolutely Brilliant

This production is really amazing, great choice of actors and production that really brought the book to life. The book itself has more twists and turns than you ever imagine and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the last moment, even though you will keep thinking there cannot possibly be another! Yet it is still very believable and no part is beyond what you come to expect. Clear 8 hours from your day, keep the tea pot close by as you won't be able to switch this one off.
