Summary

Since the age of 20, Paul McCartney has lived one of the ultimate rock 'n' roll lives played out on the most public of stages. Now Paul's story is told by rock music's foremost biographer, with McCartney's consent and access to family members and close friends who have never spoken on the record before.

Paul McCartney reveals the complex character behind the façade and sheds new light on his childhood - blighted by his mother's death but redeemed by the father who introduced him to music.

Honesty at its best!

Absolutely loved it and couldn't stop listening. The fact that Paul chose a writer who was not exactly endearing to him at the outset makes this a truly a fantastic privilege to hear about his life and the beatles with no holds barred.
Definitely up there with Cicley Tyson Just As I Am and A Piece Of Cake by Cupcake Brown.
The reader was excellent too!

Humanises Paul.

Really enjoyed this. You don't get the full truth but then again that's nobody's business but McCartney's. Well read with the reader's accents not too overboard. Recommended.

Made my long car journeys short!

I got so used to listening to this on my way to and from work and must admit to being a bit gutted when the narrator finally said "the end"
Time to look for my next one!

A must for Beatles fans

Great research paints a sympathetic but not fawning picture of one of the greatest song writers and performers of the modern era
. Wonderful narrator.
