Summary

Random House presents the audiobook edition of Perfect Liars by Rebecca Reid, read by Gabrielle Glaister.

They have it all. And they’ll do anything to keep it that way.

For fans of The Girlfriend and Liane Moriarty as well as TV hits Doctor Foster and The Replacement.

Sixteen years ago, at an elite boarding school secluded in the English countryside, best friends Nancy, Georgia and Lila did something unspeakable.

Their secret forged an unbreakable bond between them, a bond of silence. But now, in their thirties, one of them wants to talk.

One word and everything could be ruined: their lives, their careers, their relationships. It's up to Georgia to call a crisis dinner. - she knows there's nothing that can't be resolved by three courses in her immaculate kitchen.

But the evening does not go as planned.

Three women walk in to the dinner, but only two will leave.

Murder isn't so difficult the second time around...

Gripping, Perfect Liars tells the story of a group of friends bound by their dark pasts and their desperate need to keep their secrets hidden from the world around them. How far would you go to protect the life you’ve built?

Critic reviews

Dark, witty and clever with painfully real character dynamics and an ending that made me shiver. (Lauren Bravo)
Despicable protagonists, despicable victim, I adored every second of it. (Sarah J Naughton, author of THE OTHER COUPLE)
Disturbing and brilliant. Perfect Liars delves into the darker side of female friendship and the lives of three women tied together by their past. A very refreshing psychological suspense and an outstanding debut. (Lauren North, author of THE PERFECT BETRAYAL)

Disappointing

A short while into listening to this book I toyed with the idea of abandoning it. It just wasn't holding me. Then it became clear there was a secret and although I guessed what this was really early on, I stayed with it just to find out if I was right.

My main issue with the book was that I didn't care about any of the characters. None of them. I had no sympathy with any of them and wouldn't have minded any of them being killed of at any time. I also found the coldness of all 3 female characters unbelievable.

By way of aside the narrator really struggled with any attempt at an American accent.

Without at least one character to interest me, I found this a bland listen that I was pleased to reach the end of.

Going to have to return

I am about an hour into this book, I have no clue who is who or what is going on and not sure if we are in now or then! Should by now know who is who at least. Can totally relate to some of the other reviews! I'm trying but struggling and my mind keeps wondering

Terrible

If you want to read a book with horrible unlikeable characters and an obvious storyline then this is the one for you.

Waste of time

This book had a lot of potential but just never landed there. It just kept giving a lot of pointless information. The only reason I didn’t return it is because Amazon were been difficult, so I suffered through it.

Do not recommend

I do not recommend this book at all. A lot of talk and very little substance to the book. Better off spending the credit on another book!
