Summary
Sometimes, the legends are true.
When eccentric billionaire Ellis Holloway hires renegade marine biologist Sam Aston to investigate the legend of a monster in a remote Finnish lake, Aston envisions an easy paycheck and a chance to clear his gambling debts. But he gets much more. There is something terrible living beneath the dark waters of Lake Kaarme and it is hungry.

monster old and new
I loved the narration of Jeffrey Kafer
Primordial is a thriller that captivated throughout. Not everyone is what they seem. We ancient rituals, Nazis, a crazy billionaire and an angry monster. If you're looking for a heart-pounding thriller, I would recommend Primordial.

A brilliant creature-feature thriller - Cool!
The book begins at a good pace giving us some information and backstory on the characters. I really like the characters in it. From the TV host that's interesting and not just animal fodder to Sam who is a tad roguish to our rather eccentric billionaire funding it all they are all solid characters.
It's a thrilling ride! It seems plausible which I like. It's also not just about the monster/animal. We see and hear things from the village to question whether the creature is living there through it's own choice.
It leaves you wanting more. It's certainly a book I could (and will) listen too again. It ends well but with enough questions that make you want a sequel and gives you scope for one!
Also really great narration. A voice that you can listen too and that sweeps you along with the pace of the book.

Jurassic Park meets Indiana Jones
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
This was a fun listen which moved along at a fair pace. There was very little down time or backstory and it moved briskly from action scene to action scene. There are some fun, if predicable, characters and well detailed locations.
The narration is generally pretty good with only a few dubious accents.
Some of the writing is fairly cliched and basic, the characters are fairly shallow but the premise was interesting and enough to carry it through to the end.
For a short, entertaining listen I'd recommend this book.

Gripping and dramatic.
Loved the story, it kept me gripped throughout. Even my husband, who heard snip bits, wanted to know how the story unfolded. Kafer has a voice that makes everything urgent and interesting. I mistakenly thought this was a Maddox & Bonebrake book so I was a little disappointed when it started but the story soon absorbed my interest and I love it.

A gory, exciting and fun movie monster tale.
Disclaimer: I was provided a copy of the book free of charge in exchange for an honest review.
Ok, to make it clear, if there's 2 things I love it dinosaurs and monster movies. Equally, the one real fear I have is of the deep sea (Thalassophobia in case you wondered) and so I am kind of my own worse enemy.
With Primordial, I have found myself equal parts thrilled as terrified, as the idea of being hunted by a creature in the dark depths of the ocean is my worse night are and this book portrays it perfectly.
From very early on, the story hits high gear and rarely let's up (except for dodgy jokes from techs related to their ex-partners) and the body count rises in spectacularly gruesome fashion and ends in an explosive finale that leaves the door open, just what you'd expect from a story akin to The Meh or Deep Rising and I had nothing if not a lot of scary fun with this book.

Sometimes the legends are true
Sam Ashton is down on his luck and in debt to bad people, when an eccentric billionaire hires him for a monster hunt, he has a lifeline. Good story, that starts off with a happy group, but soon descends into chaos and double crosses, as they find the greatest discovery in a generation but leaves Sam fighting for survival.
Jeffery delivers his usual good performance.
