Summary

Harry Arno runs a South Miami Beach gambling operation. To protect his position, he was forced to cut a deal with the local muscle, Jimmy Capotorto (Jumbo Jimmy Cap), an even fifty-fifty split. For years Harry had been padding his own stake by skimming off the top. Now a couple of local detectives - wise to sticky fingers - try to bag Jimmy by putting the squeeze on Harry.

U.S. Marshalls deliver Harry to court to testify at Jimmy's trial. Even though he's a step slower than he used to be, Harry's no fool - he slips out of the country pronto. With Jimmy Cap's men following and the Feds close behind, the three sides end up in Italy, watching their own backs while keeping abreast of Harry's. But it's not until the chase leads back to Miami that the real winners and losers are revealed....

RIP Elmore

No-one did it like Elmore and since he passed no-one has come near. Characters who live and breathe. All the plot needs to do is follow them and watch what they do.
Bathe in the work of the master.

Pronto

I thought this book was really good,Raylan is a great character amongst an array of oddball people who make a funny and wonderful story.

Elmore at his best

Once again Elmore tales you in to a shady world and keeps you there..interspersed with black humor and a little romance. this time a trip to.Italy was included and made the story even more interesting.

Excellent performance

First of Rylan novels - what a great character. What’s not to like. Great story and outstanding reading. I definitely would recommend this.

Typical Elmore Leonard, amazing!

The characters, story and narration were superb. I can't give this enough praise, Im just sad it had to finish.

The first Raylan Givens story

Anyone who likes the TV show Justified should enjoy this. Regular Elmore Leonard, good dialogue, twisty violent plot but the man in the Western hat makes it special.

Good but not as good as some of his

Enjoyable all the way through though lightweight. The narrator was a disappointment after the excellent reading of his other books.

Entertaining and intriguing.

Great story, with many threads, well told. Many twists and turns. Fantastic characterisation, with realistic dialogue. Elmore Leonard writes without a word wasted.
