Adequate, not outstanding
A well-intentioned and faithfully represented introduction to Catholic prayer. It covers what most in the Faith would call the basics and, most importantly, the development of a habit of prayer. Very helpful in that respect.
I especially appreciate the suggestion to pray mindfully, rather than simply recite vocal prayers as quickly as possible.
As an older Catholic, I balk at the use of modern pronouns and rearrangement of words into the more contemporary forms. I was taught to entreat our Blessed Mother in the Memorare, "To thee do I come, before thee I stand...", for instance. Evolution of language, yes, I understand that, though I am saddened at the presentation of these beautiful prayers without benefit of exposure to the older forms. A small thing, but should not the language of our formal prayer be a little special?
The narration seemed a bit rushed, no discernable breaks when changing from one topic to another, but overall easy to listen to. I recommend this book, with the reservations above, to any new to Catholic prayer.
