Summary

Come to the stage between two worlds - come to the Theater of the Imagination. In this six-part live performance series, best-selling author and beloved cantadora (keeper of the old stories), Clarissa Pinkola Estes shares the work of her lifetime: myths, tales, and poetry with the power to nourish and heal. Contained within Theater of the Imagination are the great universal themes - tales of loss and ressurection, of love and sacrifice; of the courage to survive - yet it is as if Dr. Estes is speaking only to you.

From the lap of the Goddess

Would you consider the audio edition of Theater of the Imagination, Volume II to be better than the print version?

This is a rich and interesting listening experience and I found the audio edition completely absorbing. Because of the density of the work I may have struggled to give it the kind of attention I ended up giving it had I read it instead.

What did you like best about this story?

Clarissa Pinkola Estes is a story teller par excellence. She is in my experience of a lifetime's avid consumption of stories without comparison - interesting, inspirational, thought provoking, intuitive and insightful. Theatre of the Imagination brought joy to my day and a delight in being human!

Which scene did you most enjoy?

I enjoyed the story of Skeleton Woman. So many twists and turns literally and symbolically but also some powerful insights into the nature of relationships. Insights that you might struggle to comprehend within some of relationship specific books on the market.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

My favourite parts of the book were Clarissa Pinkola Estes interpretation of the symbolic language of the stories she has such a flair for telling. They were always powerful and left me in another place, deep in thought.

Any additional comments?

I absolutely love Theatre of the Imagination and the fact that I will revisit it over and over again. A great find but I wouldn't expect anything less of Clarissa Pinkola Estes. Her writing has had a profound effect on my outlook on life.

Nessessary listening for the soul

Incredibly touching myths and old stories all magically get woven together by the incredible woman of grand power and knowledge..I bow down to Dr Estes every time I hear her analysis; or her poems which are often an entertaining and accurate take on the absurdity of modern life. Every minute of this is worthy of your time and deserves a couple of listens. True honey for the soul as well as great material for inner expansion

Good but...

I really do like Ms. Estes and her stories and wisdom, but sometimes I wonder about them....for example, there is a story, in which she references some German words and their origin as it relates to the story , but my German husband was listening, and he didn't recognize any words she was referencing or remotely even close. Sometimes I think her gift of storytelling takes over and suddenly you have no idea what is going on and feel like you are going around and around in a circle . Without taking away much. I prefer shorter , clearer stories.
