Summary

As the fires of war raged around him, Lord Alleyne Bedwyn was thrown from his horse and left for dead - only to awaken in the bedchamber of a ladies' brothel. Suddenly the dark, handsome diplomat has no memory of who he is or how he got there - yet of one thing he is certain: The angel who nurses him back to health is the woman he vows to make his own.

But like him, Rachel York is not who she seems. A lovely young woman caught up in a desperate circumstance, she must devise a scheme to regain her stolen fortune. The dashing soldier she rescued from near death could be her savior in disguise. There is just one condition: She must pose as his wife - a masquerade that will embroil them in a sinful scandal, where a man and a woman court impropriety with each daring step...with every taboo kiss that can turn passionate strangers into the truest of lovers.

Contains mature themes.

good theme

Really struggling with narrator, the only book her voice suited from this series was Freya story she hs managed to murder the other stories with her style of narration I say this because I have listened to other period dramas to better narration and I really want to get to the end of the series but it's ruining it for me.
Otherwise story had a sweet theme despite the suspect accents Roslyn put on and it did somewhat break with the storyline pattern favoured by the author I don't recommend listening to the series in succession - listen to a book in between it might make the obvious patterns seem less so.

Loved it

Really liked the story. Somewhat similar general storyline to the other Bedwyn series, but this has been my favourite

Enjoyable

This is number five in the series, and is the most imaginative thus far. A beautiful continuation from its predecessor (which I did not enjoy and did not finish).

A fantastic troupe of characters In this story, everyone is a joy to encounter (which is a stark contrast to the previous tale). However, once again, since book 3, I haven’t enjoyed how the female lead - in this case, Rachel - is written. This loses it one star, which is a shame because the premise of this story is brilliant!

Great series

Have thoroughly enjoyed all the stories - imaginative situations and realistic characters, and I think the narration is excellent- great accents and does men well. I played a bit with the speed on the first book, Slightly Married, and found 1.10 was perfect, as has been the case for all so far.

Disappointing

The plot is quite amusing but the characters are just too good to be true. Rosalyn Landor's treacly performance just makes it more bilious.

Secondary characters make it

I found this the weakest of all the novels in this collection. I started thinking it may be my favourite, due to it being such a different story to the others, but I found that it was slightly sluggish and plodding and didn’t like the heroine that much, she didn’t have much personality compared to the other heroines who who aren’t part of the family. However the secondary characters I found the most interesting and entertaining!
