Summary

Nominated for the Audiobook Download of the Year, 2008.

The unabridged recording of Sail is only available as a download.

As Peter Carlyle waves his wife, children and brother-in-law off on a sailing holiday, all they have in mind is lying back and relaxing. But as a violent storm breaks out, an explosion causes the boat to vanish without a trace, and the family are lost, presumed dead.

Until now. When a message in a bottle is washed up on a shore, it becomes apparent that there must have been at least one survivor.

Peter is a broken man. He appears to struggle to contain his grief as he holds a heartfelt TV interview about his loss. But all is not as it seems. Beneath the grief lies a more sinister side; Peter is involved with a beautiful - and dangerous - younger woman, and it soon transpires that he knows more about his family's disappearance than he is letting on.

He seeks to find whatever remains of his family, but is he really looking for a happy reunion? And could it be that it isn't just Peter who is hot on the Dunne family's trail? The race is on to rescue any survivors and discover what happened aboard the luxury yacht.

Really poor

Got so annoyed with this one, listened for less than an hour, and it was all i could take. A sinking boat, heroine on her way topsides to get rescue equipment, yet stops for lengthy introspection and considers hugging her children etc etc with water lapping at her feet. Unrealistic and very poor. The dialog is cringeworthy. Cant believe written by James Patterson.

Worst book I have listened to.

In two years of enjoying Audible books this is the poorest. The actual storyline is ok and the technique of two narrators also works well but what lets the book down is the dialogue. It is so cliche ridden that you can actually guess what the next line is going to be in 9 out of 10 cases! I have read other books by the same author and have never been as conscious of anything quite so crass before. This book will make me think twice about reading or listening to anything by the same author again.

Great book

This was a fabulous book - gripping and very enjoyable. The music in parts was a bit off putting kept thinking the phone was ringing but you got used to it. The ending I felt was a bit hurried but there were no unaswered questions which is great.

Loved the two readers - they did a spendid job and really bought the book to life.

Only one point - having listened to the sentence three or four times still not sure if it was 16 or 60M???

Not his best book

I agree with other posts - not a brilliant book and the way it has been recorded with two different people is really irritating - particularly the female reader (she began to get on my nerves!)

The plot is thin and predictable and ultimately not very interesting. I didn't engage with any of the characters - and nor did I like any of them particularly

Sail

Easy listening drivel. Some unexpected plot twists, some glaringly obvious ones. I found the narrator's voice a tad annoying....

Good Story

music in the back ground was annoying and I couldn't quite get used to the drawl of the narrators.

Didn't meet Pattersons' high standards

Sadly, this isn't one of Pattersons better books. I feel he rushes too often to get books written and published, rather than writing a decent story. stupid twists, unbelievable money involved without explanation, predictable villains. Avoid this one and read something else instead.
The narrations also let it down, expression where is wasn't needed, and failure to stress important bits. Poor.
