Something is rotten in the state of California....
The dawning civil war has ended in a truce. Scavengers and traders all over the country are settling down for the long, hard winter to come. With their new camp outside the maze of New Angeles at the coast growing every day, Bree, Nate, and the gang have their hands full - yet something is not quite right. Maybe one last run before the winter is all that's needed to cure that itch. What could possibly go wrong?

Not of the same quality...

this book felt like it was written out of contractual duty rather than to progress the story. the only interesting plot was in the last 10mins that layed out the next book. i was very dissapointed as untill now i have enjoyed this book serise

Stella Stella

I’ve read this complete series because it has a good backstory, good well-defined characters, and plenty of action. However, the two main characters argue all the time and even though I know some people who act like this and still profess their love for each other, i do not seek them out very often. It’s too messy. I kept hoping they would grow over the course of the series, but they just can’t stop spewing their toxic crap. I’m inclined to believe that most of their friends/scavengers that have exited the series did so on purpose. I know that if I have to endure anymore of their nagging, I will beg a zombie rip out my neck. I’m done.

All is not well with Bree

What made the experience of listening to Affliction the most enjoyable?

The narrator is awesome, the characters come to life.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Bree of course, she is a strong female character and stands up to life’s challenges.

What does Tess Irondale bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

I would not have continued with the series if not for Tess’s narration.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I was frustrated with the direction of this book, just another road trip to the silo to find out what was wrong with Bree. Let me say, it was really gross. I will never look at routine tests the same way ever.

Any additional comments?

I followed the series because of Bree and Nate’s relationship, however I am beginning to think it’s too toxic. If my husband talked to me that way I would have left long ago.
