Publisher's Summary

This gripping tale of the future anticipates Ayn Rand's later masterpieces, The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. In the dark ages of the future, individuals have no name, no independence, and no values. In this faceless world, one man dares to love the woman of his choice and to seek and find knowledge.

Audible Editor Reviews

Anthem was my introduction to Ayn Rand, and I like what I hear. She depicts a futuristic world that, frighteningly, does not seem so far off. A world in which personal freedom and individuality have been abolished, in fact outlawed, and the protagonist refers to himself as "we" because there is no "I." He struggles within the confines of an ordered world he just cannot come to terms with, and "we" agree...we could not live there either. (Kirsten, Editor)

I had to read this book for my degree, so was happy to find it on audible. The strange thing is I loved it, while everyone else on the course said it was rubbish. It just goes to show that sometime the imagery projected from listening to an audible version over reading a flat book can make all the difference.
I thought the subject matter was very interesting and the whole thing really made me think. Have a listen and see what you think.
