Summary
A malevolent threat looms over the once great city of Excelsis. For as long as the treacherous Ortam Vermyre lives, civilisation is no longer safe within the Realm of Beasts.

Fantasticly enjoyable story
A great adventure story, nicely narrated. Gives a great look at life in the Mortal Realms, with a large cast of engaging characters. Highly recommended.

Couldn't stop listening
I can see Callis and Toll becoming popular. They gave me Gotrek and Felix vibes at times.
They have some incredible side characters too: an elven tomb raider type, cocky pirate captain, Kharadron, Lizard men, beast men, followers of Khorne and Tzeentch, and it always felt very natural.
Narrator did an excellent job to. Had a voice like honey.

Superb
What a great story for developing the AoS at large. The tale winds from Oruks to Corsairs to Khorne Reavers to Karadin to Tzangors effortlessly through the eyes of a witch hunter and his companions. If you are looking for the world that was to be replaced by the world that is then this story is for you. Great narration tons great plot. More please.

A supremely entertaining adventure
I grew up with Warhammer fantasy and like many, I hated the idea of Age of Sigmar when I first laid eyes on it, but after five years I decided to give this new setting another look through some lore videos on YouTube and was pleasantly surprised to discover great atmosphere, original worldbuilding and a flavour all its own. This novel is my first foray into the Mortal Realms and I must say, it did not disappoint. The Silver Shard is a thrill ride of an adventure, full of badass heroes, irredeemable villains, crazy monsters and highly imaginative locations. At times the violence was comically extreme, but that contributed to that whole Warhammer feel. Barnaby Edwards' narration is perfect, capturing the tone of the adventure and the characters in a very lively way. If you like Warhammer, Pirates of the Caribbean or Indiana Jones, you can't go wrong with this one.

Best Age Of Sigmar Book
If you are looking for the best AOS book this is it, the others about the Stormcast Eternals can be a bit dry and too similar to the 40K Space Marine books.
Most of the races and factions are portrayed in this book and the mortals involved make a welcome change to the immortal superhuman Stormcasts basically shouting oaths to Sigmar while casting down Chaos demons.
I look forward to the second outing.

Looking forward to more.
It's good to have a more "human" perspective of the mortal realms and the different lives within it.
A good listen if you like naval battles and ancient ruins in jungles.

A good adventure story
The book tells a good adventure story, not complex, but it does it's job.
The story dosent present a lot to learn from it, story wise and for self learning wise, it's more like a fun storytime with arheologice,
It concentrate more on presenting the characters, that are cool and interesting, but you can't learn anything from them.
All in all it's a good adventure story, with only cool characters

Decent introduction to new characters haven't read the prequel city of secrets but solid. Only reason not 5* is slann related
